Absolutely worth it.
We used these during the 10/14 eclipse and they were absolutely the Goldilocks fit for us. They are affordable, light-weight but well constructed, and very much gave a far superior view to any of the glasses or other filters that everyone else had. We had no trouble at all carrying these around for ~3hours. We viewed the October 2023 eclipse from the San Antonio Zoo, and while we were nearly the only folks I saw with something more than cheap glasses... we were the only ones who didn't regret not having these binocs by the end. At least a dozen random people asked to take a turn and had nothing but good things to say about them. We did find that you really do need to open/close the distance to get dialed in for your eyes/face, but once you know to expect that shift it's easy to quickly readjust. Finding the sun can be a challenge, but if you start with your eyes looking right below it, bring them up, THEN look at the sun, it's quite easy. Alternately, physically point at the sun then bring the binocs up; the brain figures that out fast with HEC. Visual quality was great and we were even able to see sun spots! For the 2024 April eclipse we're buying another (bigger) pair and will not waste any time with the old paper glasses. Update: For the 2024 eclipse these were a smashing hit. A couple family members bought them too. Consistent quality and zero regrets.

Highly recommended for sunspots big and small
These binoculars are a perfect introduction to observing sunspots. They are affordable, portable, and user-friendly, offering impressive views of even the smallest sunspots. Attached is a sample of sunspot movement across the sun over a few days. The main limitation is the lack of a tripod mount, making it challenging to align both binoculars and a camera for photography. Despite this, these binoculars are an excellent choice for viewing and photographing sunspots up close.

Good starter binoculars, small image though
Very compact and easy to hold. Well made and easy to use. The sun looks pretty small through them though, you have to be very steady and work that focus to see sun spots. They aren't totally useless, you can see the spots but I wish it was bigger with more detail. I'll probably get a bigger pair, it's amazing to actually see sun spots.

Sturdy, Functional, and Inexpensive
I like these compact, seemingly well-made binoculars. There is a knack to using them: sealing out the ambient light, acquiring the sun through them, holding them steady, and above all bringing them to and from your eyes ONLY WHEN YOU'RE LOOKING AWAY from the sun. I imagine it'd be easy to damage your vision, not to mention ruining the eclipse experience, if you took these away from your eyes while staring directly into the sun. Some caveats: it was difficult or impossible for me to use with my eyeglasses because of the need to seal the eyecups from ambient light. Also, it was not so easy to find the sun through them, or to hold them steady for viewing. Some reviewers have stated the solar filters can be removed but I'd be afraid to use them for their intended purpose after being modified or tampered with, and I have a nice pair of Nikons for that purpose so I wouldn't think it would serve much purpose to try to alter the solar blocking capability. Be aware that they are useless for any purpose other than solar viewing; they're so dark that you see only blackness when not looking directly at the sun. Finally, there is no tripod mount, or in my view much reason to try to use these with a tripod because of the need to seal off ambient light before raising them to view the sun - some sort of steadying brace is very necessary but a tripod would be tough to make work.

NOPE! Can't get exchange or warranty service from Celestron because of the Amazon sale price.
Bought the 12x50s on a lightning deal, but they weren't collimated properly : ( I could focus one side of the binocs on the sun, but the other side would only pick up about half of the disk. I really wanted these as an upgrade as I had bought the 10x25s for the April 8, 2024 Total eclipse and those worked reasonably well, but I wanted a tad more magnification and the 50 mm objective lens size so they'd be easier to use. I spent a couple hours playing with them, but no amount of adjustment would get me a single image. With one eye centered and focused, the other eye would only see part of the solar disk at the edge of the viewing area, which boils down to a collimation problem- the two halves of the binoculars don't aim at the same patch of sky. Ive heard that a hard hit or a big drop can knock the binocular innards out of alignment, but the packaging for these binoculars is quite extensive - they are in a padded carry case and in THREE cardboard boxes. I wanted to get an exchange for another pair, but that was not given as an option by Amazon, so I just have to return them. I contacted Celestron to see if I could get an in-warranty exchange from them, BUT because I got these for a sale price, Celestron tossed me back at Amazon, which would NOT offer a replacement set, only the return option. If you read the reddit reviews of these binocs you come away with the feeling that getting a decent pair is a coin flip. You CAN collimate binoculars by finding the adjustment screws for the prisms, aiming at a distant object, and focusing one side of the binocs to match the other side, BUT with solar binocs the super dark filters are permanently attached and the SUN is the only distant object that is bright enough to use to collimate , and the SUN is a MOVING target, so you would literally need a clock drive to keep them aligned with the sun while adjusting, and if you had THAT kind of setup, you probably ALREADY have a high end telescope and the filters such that you wouldn't buy solar binocs in the FIRST PLACE.

Je les ai testées sans problème, mais je viens de recevoir un mail d’Amazon disant qu’il ne fallait pas les utiliser pour observer le soleil… j’ai reçu un remboursement pour ces jumelles et des lunettes d’éclipse Bresser. Prudence donc.

They work as described, in fact, when I view the sun I can see the sunspots which was pretty cool. I would recommend the tripod mount and a tripod as it can be a bit tricky to locate the sun looking through but once it’s in view, it’s awesome! The only real “downfall” is all the plastic. Rest assured, they work very well.

They work for viewing the sun. Keep in mind these are solar binoculars for observing sun or solar eclipse events. These are not normal binoculars.

Franchement très déçu de voir le soleil bleu. Je m’attendais à le voir de la même couleur que dans des lunettes pour éclipse.
