Shimano Ultegra XTD Surf Reel

Very smooth quality saltwater reel.

I paired this reel with a Star Stellar 8' medium rod($100) using runcl 40 lb braid and I can cast 100 yards with a 2 oz pyramid sinker. The reel is smooth and has a very strong drag - 33lb. I bought it so I can cast out to Pompano who feed near the sand bars. With a longer rod I should be able to cast well past 100 yards. I'm happy with this reel. I bought it when amazon had it on sale for $157 - great buy !!! It comes with a spare spool and shims. I used the shims on the second spool and loaded 20 lb J-braid and 330 yards filled the spool. The first spool was loaded with 40 lb braid without a shim and the spool took a little under 300 yards.

Very nice , seems to be good quality very very smooth, not a sealed reel need to be a little gentle when fishing in the surf

Hermoso reel. En general es muy bueno. Lo mejor es el funcionamiento y que liviano. Lo único que para traer mas 3-4 kilos le cuesta un poco pero tratándolo con cariño no te deja tirado. Lo recomiendo

I married this reel to my Shimano Tiralejo and I am pleased with balance and combined weight of the two making it a dream to cast for hours at a time.. I am glad I filled the reel with 30lb. braid because I am casting SP Minnows and Pencil Poppers at really great distances.

Have not taken it to the beach yet, so I'll update once I do. But out of the box, I was impressed. The reel is beautiful, sleek, and as smooth as butter. Came with two spools, one I loaded with braid and the other I loaded with mono. Got it to do some long-distance surfcasting.

Better than I expected...for a 5500 size real, it's as light as i had hoped vs other 5 series spinning real. The huge spool took lots of the 30lb sufix 832 braided line, over 375 yds if not more. PLUS, the 2nd included spool allowed me to have a 50lb powerpro braid handy if conditions call for it. Its sleek, its smooth and should be badass for my upcoming surf fishing season...

J'ai commandé 4 XTD pour alimenter mon setup carpe, je suis pas déçu pour le moment ils ont l'aire vraiment fiable et robuste. Les lancés longues distances sont au top, le frein vraiment puissant, rien à redire.
