Will this jar be enough for 12 11 x 14 canvases?

Oh yeah. More than enough. Could probably prep 100 canvases with this jar. It will vary depending how much you use in the actual painting. Also remember to mix often the oil separates

Is this must for oil paints?

Yes, this is just for oil paints as it is oil based.

Can you use with water mixable oils?

Yes, all oil paints can be used together. The caveat is, when traditional oils are mixed with water mixable oils at higher than about 25%, the water mixable oils will start to lose their water soluble properties. You'll need to use spirits/thinners to clean your brushes. Otherwise mix away.

Do you still need to use this on a pre-primed canvas?

All painting should be done on a primed surface. This is a thinned tinted medium used for oil painting. It is wdely be used as a base coat for the wet on wet style of oil painting that Bob Ross and Bill Alexander brought to the masses.
