It works on a 1996 RAV4. It had auto locks already with power windows but no keyless entry remote. I installed it by removing the panel down by your feet and tapped into the wires there. Its a negative trigger system. Seems to have a great distance. Will see how long it lasts.

Great for aftermarket alarm system deletes while retaining door lock remote
subsequent to removing a very old car alarm system that was malfunctioning in the worst way, I utilized this kit to enable the aftermarket electric door lock relays formerly operated by the now removed alarm system . In my case the relays are energized by the negative side using white wires. Super easy install. Operates as good as an OEM unit. VERY satisfied with this kit.

Not as Easy as it Could Be With Better Instructions, But Works Well If Properly Installed
Good news first: purchase price was very reasonable, cheaper than the similar malfunctioning unit it replaced that I had installed 25 years ago. The fobs came with working batteries; the receiver unit is half the size of the old unit making for easier placement. The hardware all seemed to be well made and durable. It is installed and seems to have great range for the fobs and works flawlessly so far. The less than good news: so why only 4 stars? There are a wad of wires. Two are easy, the 12v positive and negative leads. Those leads are primarily what keeps the RF receiver ‘on’ and ready. The bad part is the very sketchy instructions. You still need to connect the battery +- leads to other wires to cause power to go to the car’s switch. I have installed similar units so it didn’t take too long to figure it out. BUT, a first-time DIY’er may take some time. There are two brown wires for a parking light flashes that are optional. The 6 tiny schematic drawings are written using a few English words, but structure and definition are, uh, interesting. The directions are not that helpful. MY ADVICE: the instructions identify several different hook-up samples but they are misnamed, shuffling terms like Motor, Switch, etc. don’t get hung up on the nomenclature in the instructions. Have a tester handy, and understand you need one combination of connected wires to send a positive current when pressing the ‘lock’ on the fob, and another combination of wires to send a positive current when pressing the ‘unlock’ button. Then connect those to the appropriate leads from the car’s door lock switch.

The diagrams on the right tell you which is lock and unlock.
Instructions are a little vague but was an easy hookup and worked perfectly!!

DO NOT BUY THIS
If you hate yourself, by all means purchase this kit. If you do not value your time at all, by all means purchase this kit. Otherwise, DO NOT BUY IT. The unit itself is complete crap. And don't even get me started on how absolutely horrible the instructions are. They might as well not even provide any instructions at all. This is coming from a man with 10+ years of 12 volt experience. Again, DO NOT BUY. Spend a little extra and get a different kit.

100% worth the install 👍
Been using it in my sienna for a while now works great, still has crazy range. My vehicle uses a 'ground operated' power locking system. So I spliced into the passenger door's lock button, because it's the easiest way my button only had 3 wires, all of which you need, ground/lock/unlock wires. then you need to run a 12v constant cuz most cars don't have 12v constant in the doors just 5v signal wire which won't work, will need to tap into a 12v constant fuse in the kick panel making sure its tapped into the protected blade of the fuse, run it threw the door. which is the hardest part my door harness is a nightmare to get into, so I went a different route I remembered i closed the power window relay so my power windows will work even when the keys off that gave me constant 12v in the door 😁

Simple and sleek keyless entry
This is an ez and super convenient add-on. Depending on how your door locks are triggered, it can be configured to either send a +12V(positive) or -12V(negative) pulse. It's only 5 wires (constant 12V, Ground, lock, unlock & parking lights or turn signals) and you are done. In my case it was an older ~pre-2000 GM vehicle, which required an alternating polarity, aka 5-wire setup. This makes it a little more complicated but after some research I managed to make this work. I thought I'd quickly share the process and a diagram to help my fellow DIYers: You'll need two automotive 5-Pin 12V SPDT relays (one for lock & one for unlock). The relays are simply spliced into the lock and unlock wire coming from the door switch, and triggered with a pulse from the keyless entry module. Wire colors may vary but the same method applies. Also, if you keep blowing the 15A fuse in the keyless entry module, try switching your in-and output on pin 87A and 30 of each relay...ask me how I know. Good luck!
