Good but some shortcomings
This book recommended to me to help with arthritic knee. The author Ben Patrick seems to have a bit of a cult following for his ‘Knee over Toe’ exercise technique for improving knee function. This book ‘ATG for Life’ describes a twice weekly exercise regime using text and pictures. The book is well illustrated, but it can be difficult to interpret the exercise technique. In one section on Polyquin Pulse Regression there are 4 pictures that show the knee position that all appear to be the same. A sequence of pictures showing knee/ leg position through stages of the exercise would have been much more helpful. Reading the associated text is also less than clear. Some instruction on the correct posture for each exercise and what to avoid should have been included. It should also be noted that some of the exercises will need special equipment ranging from a slant board to a weight sled. Some of this might be available in a gym, but even so some of them will need a considerable amount of space to use. I do feel that there are some beneficial exercises in this book and four or five of them are now part of my fitness plan, but the book could have, and should have, been much better at explaining the individual exercise techniques.

DO NOT BUY… Just watch YouTube.
The book is outdated with regards to the equipment used for the ATG program. I hoped for some nuggets of information but It’s absolutely not worth buying if you have watched more than 1 of his videos on youtube. What he preaches is good, but it doesn’t change and this book is due an update.

The truth is simple. This book uncovers and describes what intuitively makes sense for longevity and the healing of our bodies while also giving very practical steps to help make changes. It’s short and full of pictures for a reason. It’s a practical guide that is meant to be applied to your life, and not just become head knowledge. If you get this book and start with the twice a week formula I promise you will get an insane ROI on this purchase! Here is a video of me doing sleds, one of the staples of the program. Just doing these as coached in the book has had huge benefits on my body. My foot pain that used to prevent me from playing sports is completely gone.

I started with the author's Knee Ability Zero, to recover my knees from severe osteoarthritis, which was the basis for my own specific routines. When I discovered this book, I grabbed it immediately, because I knew the information would be valuable. You can use the information for a standalone fitness routine, which will work very well for that purpose, or to take ideas from for your customized routines, as I did.
