With a little creativity, a convincing firelight effect.
The light has a cozy, realistic flicker—especially behind a lightly frosted glass or a sconce with enough visual confusion to obscure the dot matrix light array that simulates the flicker effect. Mine illuminates a disused fireplace in my office and it creates a lovely ambient firelight in the dimly lit room. If it seems slightly too orange for your liking, a light blue cellophane (perhaps a lighting gel, medium thickness) will temper it down a notch.I had an issue with half the dot matrix freezing up in the lit position after a few months of regular use, but the seller promptly replaced the item and the new unit seems to be functioning nicely. It looks especially inviting in a porch or walkway light. People will curiously inquire if it's real, and it's a great way to dress a disused fireplace for that warm hearth glow. Mine sits in a cast iron lantern with lightly frosted glass and the plug runs discreetly to a Clapper device so I don't have to unplug it, and can easily 'clap' through the three settings (steady on, fade, and flicker) to the desired flicker setting. A great item, and backed up by the seller for quality control and good customer service.

Awesome! Very Realistic and Very Very Happy!!!
Absolutely Awesome and Realistic Flame Effect! Love the 1500K temperature too. Really looks like an authentic fire torch. I wish this company made the same color and flame effect bulb in a small candelabra bulb. If they are reading this, than please let me know how to get them. I have these installed in the two coach lights on either side of my garage and it gives it that old lamplight feel. If you're trying to create a gothic / medieval / torch on a castle kind a thing, than this is your huckleberry! Great for Halloween, Christmas and as I use them, year round. It's important to point out though, that if you get up to within 5 feet of this light you can see the LED pixels within the bulb, but it's a very minor drawback to a great product and in no way a spoiler. As others have said though on their reviews of this and other flame bulbs, you would not notice the LED Pixels up close if the glass / lens was white, fogged or even cracked glass. The Bottom Line?? I Love It, My Neighbors Love it and I get many compliments on it from passers by the front of my house. It's Da Bomb!!

Just so so.
The media could not be loaded. I have an antique street light in the back yard with an opaque globe. A neighbor friend a few houses over called the other night to say she thought there might be a fire somewhere near our backyard. So, in that respect, I suppose it's suited to its purpose. However, without an opaque globe, it ain't foolin' anyone within 25 feet. Don't be misled by the product photo. The flames you see therein are for demonstrative purposes only (and they should say so). I think the light is far too orange to be convincing as a lamp light. Accept the other reviewers' suggestions that this particular brand of bulb is best suited for Halloween or other such theatrical requirements. It looks much more bluish-red than in the video - I just have really great phone camera that corrected the color.

HAHA SO BAD
I bought 3 different types. One being Greluna and another that looked exactly the same. I truly figured they were same product from china and the different companies put their brand on it. ANYWAYS, the others look like flame. They look great from afar and close. HOWEVER the LAKES show each dot in the LED. it looks silly. It is terrible. If it were the only one out there, I would put up with it, but the other brands are the way to go. DO NOT BUY THIS ONE. IF YOU DO, YOU WILL REGRET IT.

Neat evolution of LEDs
The media could not be loaded. I’ve been considering the newer LED bulbs, and it’s amazing just how complex they can get. The “flame” function on here is far more realistic than I expected. I always liked the metal plate flame bulbs (I don’t know they’re exact name), but these make it look realistic. I sadly don’t have a frosted enclosure to test these in. I wanted to see if the bulbs were worth it, before I went out and purchased a new fixture. (Turns out a simple lamp shade makes these things look AMAZING, we have a “spooky corner” in our house now…)They are far brighter than I expected, but it is LED, so I should have considered. This just goes above and beyond that expectation. The flame moves in such a way that it makes it look realistic, moving up the cylinder while still spacing itself out.As for the bulb, itself, not just it’s lighting aspect, but physically. It is all plastic, but is held together very well. It also presents itself nice enough that even in a clear enclosure, it doesn’t look half bad. It is about as big as a can of soda, the pictures might make it look smaller, but it is indeed that large. As for heat, it doesn’t get warm at all, but this might be due to the vent hole in the top.*I also wanted to add, I didn’t realize this was a DUAL function light. If you turn the bulb off, then on again, it will go into steady mode, but if you turn it off, and on once again, it’ll go back to the flame mode. Also, sitting next to it isn’t a very big distraction, it’s not intense enough, which is a good thing.

Perfect from a distance up close not very convincing
I was super excited to get a hold of these as I’ve seen them online for a while. I was impressed with the packaging and quick response and shipping that I received as always. I’ve got them installed and I was surprised to see the large LEDs very clearly as I was up close. As I moved out to the street from the front of my house which is just a single car length I was unable to see the individual LEDs anymore. Overall very impressive and they give the majority of the look I was shooting for.
