Sturdy and useful for storing my dog's treats

Excellent and simple box. I wanted one like this but in English oak. a few coats of stain and a few coats of wax finish and hey presto, a lovely box!

Comparing this to a box I bought back in 2019, which is still available, this box is very adequate but not as good quality. Our other box had a base that was thick, just like the pine sides, where this one has a very thin wood base, almost transparent in one area. The other one also came with a latch and better quality hinges. But this one would arrive before Christmas Eve so I opted for this one anyway. And it was cheaper by £8. I purchased a cheap latch and some foam festive glittery stickers, and it looks just the part now. As described its finish is smooth enough, but if desired it could be made smoother for a more polished finish. The corners are all rounded off and there aren't any sharp edges. It is big enough for a Christmas Eve box, about the same size as our other one, and we can fit a decent amount inside it, such as a small lego kit, a light jumper or t-shirt, slippers, some snacks or any other little festive knick-knacks. All in all I am pleased with it, and it's much preferable to a cardboard festive box. I've knocked off one star because of material quality such as the base and hinges, and lack of a clasp, but depending on what you want it for, it's a decent, strong enough little box that will look very nice if you desire to customise it. Please note that my photo shows the box after I have customised mine.

This really is a low cost plain box. It’s well made even though the wood is nothing special and it does have a strap inside to ensure the lid doesn’t fall back. This is really useful because the hinges are weak and only clipped in. They are low quality and the first thing I did was replace them. It would have been nice to have a tray insert inside but at the price for the box that’s probably a step too far. The box will need some sort of treatment when you first get it – stained, varnished or something like that. We’re using ours for our six year old granddaughter to keep her craft stuff in so I’ve painted her name on top then got her to wildly decorate it.

Would have given it 5 stars but there is a small gap when it's closed. I needed a tighter seal for the intended use but still a good quality finished product. I stained it with dark mahagnoy stain. It looks really nice now
