Thrown together cheaply by some garbage label but the music sounds great.

They do not get much better than these." The Idiot" was my introduction to Iggy and to be hit next with "Lust for Life" was a musical life changer. Reed's "Rock N Roll Animal" and Bowie's ."Ziggy Stardust" had started the process. Here were four albums that rank in my top 20 of all time. I thank these genius who transformed my music world just in time so that punk could adjust it again. Who knew the Ramones and Sex Pistols would turn everything upside down again.

Iggy brought these songs to life for me live recently. I have both albums on vinyl (but, alas, no turntable). The live show convinced me to revisit these tunes. They are better than I ever remember! And knowing some of the back stories of the songs enhanced my pleasure as well, this time around.

This was a great buy for listens in the car and at home. If you’re an iggy fan this package definitely scratches the itch.

A great inexpensive way to own two great Iggy releases. This budget collection's only drawback is that has no liner notes. Outside of that, it is a great way to pick up two cd's for the price of one.

I dig the IG! Two of his best solo albums on one disc,can't beat it!

THE IDIOTC'est le premier album de l'iguane, un album qui, comme le fantastique Transformer de Lou Reed quelques années plus tôt, porte le sceau d'un David Bowie toujours partant pour aider un pote à sa relance, quitte à vampiriser son "sujet". Parce que, indéniablement, dès un titre en référence à Fiodor Dostoïevski (j'sais pas vous mais, moi, j'ai du mal à imaginer Iggy potasser les classiques de la littérature russe), d'une approche, une esthétique musicale typique de la période berlinoise de l'homme aux yeux vairons, jusqu'à des crédits intégralement partagés par l'auteur et son mentor/producteur, on a très souvent l'impression d'écouter un album de David Bowie chanté par Iggy Pop. Comme c'est un bon David Bowie, option post-kraut new-waveuse avant l'heure à fond les bananes !, avec quelques vrais highlights (Sister Midnight, co-écrit avec le guitariste Carlos Alomar, l'imparable Nightclubbing morceau culte s'il en fut, un Funtime cousin-Kraut, ou un China Girl que Bowie n'hésitera pas à transformer en hit mondial quelques années plus tard en le débarrassant de son initiale noirceur), on ne boude pas son plaisir et plonge dans les méandres d'un album mené par la voix du mort-de-faim, un peu à la ramasse depuis la séparation des Stooges et son séjour psychiatrique, cet Iggy plus vraiment ce symbole proto-punk, introverti et nihiliste. The Idiot, plus qu'une première aeuvre, demeure un des tous meilleurs album d'Iggy avec, évidemment, Lust for Life sorti la même année et reconduisant presque la formule et l'équipe, une puissante et artistique déclaration d'intention qui ne sera pas, hélas, toujours suivie d'effets dans la suite de la carrière de Mister Pop.1. Et une seconde réussite d'affilée pour une iguane qui trouve tout son avantage à se laisser influencer. Il y gagne un groupe de la mort (de Carlos Alomar à Ricky Gardiner aux frères Sales que Bowie réengagera dans sa renaissance rock, Tin Machine) et les chansons qui vont avec à commencer par un Lust for Life (composé par Bowie) qui trouvera une seconde vie dans les années 90 via la bande-son de Trainspotting et The Passenger (composée par Gardiner) qui reste un immanquable du répertoire de l'ami Iggy. Alors, certes, ce n'est plus tout à fait le trublion punkoïde de Stooges, c'est un Iggy un peu dompté mais, du coup, d'une efficacité, d'une consistance encore jamais entendue (sauf sur The Idiot, premier album de l'association avec David, y a pas de hasard) sur un album de rock où Mister Pop prouve même qu'il a ce qu'il faut pour concurrencer tant son mentor de l'occasion que le lippu vocaliste de certaines Pierres Qui Roulent (écoutez voir l'épique Turn Blue si vous ne me croyez pas !). box contenente due classici di iggy pop,a parte qualche traccia inflazionata da cinema,pubblicita' e cover da scoprire per chi non avesse mai ascoltato i due album integrali,bowie gli diede gia' china girl ma non ebbe alcun seguito,dopo anni bowie se la ripubblico' per farne uno dei maggiori classici degli anni 8o.di facile ascolto ,qualita' audio buona,mi vergogno con me stesso per la cifra che ho pagato.spero di essere utile

the Stooges解散後に、Iggy Popが発表した初のソロアルバム「The Idiot(1976年録音)」とセカンドアルバム「Lust For Life(1977年録音)」がペアになっています。2in1でなく、2枚組なのが嬉しい。二つ折りのライナーノーツを開くと、ちゃんと2つのジャケット写真が左右に掲載されています。クレジットは曲名だけですが、参加ミュージシャンなどは検索すれば分かるので、特に問題はないと思います。また、音質も問題ありません。両アルバムとも、David Bowieとのコラボレーションのもとに制作されており、リリースは、共に1977年で、当時のIggyのパワーには圧倒されます。「The Idiot」に収録された「China Girl」はBowieとの共作で、Bowieのアルバム「Let's Dance(1982年録音)」にも収録され、大ヒットを記録したのは、皆様ご存じの通り。Iggyのヴァージョンは、アルバム全体がそうであるように粗削りでロックテイストに溢れており、これはこれで十分に魅力的。「Lust For Life」で最も知られた曲は、これもBowieとの共作の表題曲「Lust For Life」だと思います。Danny Boyle監督の「Trainspotting(1996年製作)」の冒頭を飾った曲で、Ewan McGregorが逃げ回るシーンを思い出す方も多いと思います。また、「Tonight」は、Bowieのアルバム「Tonight(1984 年録音)」にも収録されています。この2つのアルバムでのIggyとの共同作業により、Bowieは、Iggyを良い意味での実験台として、更に自身の音楽性に磨きをかけていったのではないかと感じました。
