Saxon Math Homeschool: 7/6 Review: Finally, a Real Math Book! - I used to teach upper elementary Math and Science in public school. However, discontent with the books used for math (or lack there of), and methods used to teach our students (don't get me started), I opted to take my children out of the public system to begin home-schooling. My children have always been strong in Mathematics. I wanted to find a curriculum that would continue to push them forward and not "dumb them down." Saxon Math is wonderful. It's everything I was looking for in a Math program: strong, yet simple enough because of it's step-by-step approach. I appreciate the fact that Saxon has a mixed practice review for each day. Not only do my children learn new concepts, but also consistently review the ones learned previously. A typical lesson consists of warm up activities (math facts, mental math, word problem), a new concept (not overwhelming), and a strong set of mixed practice problems (majority of the work). You also receive a solutions manual for quick grading or checking. The tests are very reasonable: a set of 20 strong yet realistic questions (well-worded in my opinion). I am very pleased with this publisher and am thankful for a real math book. Finally! Review: Great program - For a reasonably motivated student, this is a great program. I like the way the concepts from prior lessons are continually reviewed as new concepts are added. My daughter is home schooling this year. Would be in sixth grade. We got the 7/6 set. Its a good match. I think she's learning much more this year on her own than she did last year at school. It takes her about 1 hr 15 minutes to do a lesson, more or less. We're about half way through the year. She's becoming a little tired with it. For now, we've settled on doing every other problem in the mixed practice, which seems to have re-motivated her. Books are very accurate, and mostly self explanatory. Great program.

Exceeded expectations!
This pleasantly earlier than expected! In fact, amazon still hasn’t updated my order status! The books were in perfect new condition in the original plastic wrapping and the seller (Kris M Store) had a sweet handwritten note and gave us some cute stickers that I will definitely use when grading my sons math worksheets! Great value, and great service from this seller! I’ll definitely check out more of their products and support them when I have a need for more items!

Love the books
We've been using these books for homeschooling and it's great. I pear it up with Nicole the math lady and it is wonderful. Recommend for homeschooling or summer if your child needs extra math.

Love Saxon Math!
Oh my goodness! How do I credit Saxon Math enough! I use this for my 6th grader homeschooling. It is intense which means she’s learning. The lessons will go back over previous lessons in order to keep those principles fresh in her mind. There’s extra work assignments if a certain area requires it. Tests every 5 lessons. Recording sheets to keep up with her progress. Investigation assignments to expand her horizons. Last but far from least—a solutions book for me!!!!

High standards, quality teaching, demanding, but worth it.
Very demanding but it gets the job done. Harder than some curriculae but it's because there's a constant review with practice questions from lessons already completed. That approach really helps more greatly instill concepts over time. This curriculum means business. Each lesson is SHORT and VERY EASY to understand, but the many practice questions can be time consuming, I'll warn you. Don't let that deter you or discourage your child. This is well worth the money in my homeschool world.

The review each lesson is fantastic to keep the information fresh
This program works for my son. We tried several math programs and have finally found a fit with Saxon. The review each lesson is fantastic to keep the information fresh. Also the gradient is perfect. Saxon will teach a new skill and then give problems and examples that make sense. Some of the other programs would teach the skill and then give the most complicated problems in the lesson. With Saxon the homework will have the skill but the problem makes sense and isn’t complicated.

Brilliant Math Curriculum
Saxon Math books provide a thorough solid foundation for maths learning. If you do get stuck on a math problem these books show the full working out so that it is easy to learn from. Highly recommend. Amazon provide prompt shipping too.

We decided to homeschool as my son's grades had gone down (especially in math) and we wanted him to improve. He was in Grade 7 at school and we bought the 7/6 set after having found a placement test online for the Saxon books. This set is theoretically for Grade 6 level. My son found that some of the topics hadn't been covered at his school in Grade 6 and were new to him. Other topics were good revision. Either way, the teaching style was very thorough and we found it excellent. We will be continuing on through this series for sure.

I have loved all of the Saxon Math books. The skills taught in the beginning of the book are never forgotten because of the systimatic review practice problems built into each lesson. And I find that the children learn almost effortlessly as the lessons build upon the concepts taught in the previous lessons. Saxon Math also mixes all the math subjects, ie. algebra, geometry, trig. very effectively. Most children will excell in this program.

Todo em ingles, mas de fácil compreensão. Possui capitulos simples e gradativos. Com muitos exercicios diferentes que permitem a fixação do conteúdo. Foca o aluno no conteúdo e nao nas figuras e ilustrações, pois ele nao tem, é um livro preto no branco. Vale a pena investir.

My daughter is homeschooled and in the 8th grade. We have struggled finding a math curriculum that suited her. She does not like math so that made it even harder, and we have ended up “behind” by probably an entire school year. So far, this is proving to be the right fit. The way the lessons are set up is quite time consuming but the method is great.
