If I buy a new one how do I set the numbers to lock it?

To lock the safe you need only move the rotary dials with which you unlocked it.Any digits other than the three you programmed in to unlock it will work.To set the dials to your favorite three number combination,follow the instructions provided with the new safe.Once you have opened it, remove the lower lining panel.In back of the lock assembly move the small lever from position"B" to "A" set the number combination desired then move the lever back to it's prior location.I hope this helps you.

is it water proof/resistant?

While the materials that comprise this box (powder-coated steel case, nylon coated steel cable, removable foam liner) may be able to withstand immersion or saturation in water for short periods without damage, any contents sensitive to moisture would be compromised. Water would simply run in through the sides of the box as well as the hole where the anchor cable attaches. I suspect the hinge and lock would likewise not last long in a damp/wet environment unless they were periodically treated and lubricated.You might want to look at Pelican cases - they are waterproof and have lock attachment points. I'm sure a cable could be added to secure it to a fixture.

Marvin, This safe will not keep out anyone determined to steal from you. But it will deter an impulse theft by having someplace to keep things out of sight. After all, any lock will only keep out an honest person.

Question 4

I read a review that says you have to buy an additional lock if you want to use/secure the tether?  Is that true, and if so, what kind of lock?

Accepted Answer

You do not. The tether wraps around your fixed property and loops through itself. Locking the safe then secures the cable in place.
