Artists' Master Series: Color and Light

This book is a brilliant crash course in understanding how light and color are inextricably linked, how to work with any color under different lighting situations, and how to approach the use of different lighting decisions within each art piece. This book has cleared up a lot of misconceptions about the founding principles of light and how to approach the use of different values, chromas and hues within my own work that had been completely lacking from my previous education, and this is a crucial resource for any modern artist.

A very thorough and hefty book with an excellent way of communicating our current understanding of colours and lighting. I have taken part in a live course with one of the artists that contribute to the book (Nathan Fowkes) and I can honestly say he is masterful in his teaching, his artwork and his reputation is held in very high regard in the entertainment industry. Great input from all the artists involved explaining their particular styles. The first two lengthy chapters by the main author is where we fundamentally start to understand how we perceive colour and lighting so we can accurately apply what we learn to our own artwork. For a small price you get a lot of understanding. Quality hardcover binding with excellent paper and print. Highly recommended.

Fantastic book that's full of information. If you like art and want to improve on color and light to make better creative works, this is THE book.

Great on small devices with kindle. But for some reason I can’t download to my pc kindle app. Have tried resetting but no luck. Wish I bought hard back version. Other than that, a useful though at times complicated book. Best to have instructor or join art community to offer additional support. Learning grayscale and colour is not simple

This has forever changed my outlook on colour and lighting and I've seen noticeable effects in my work. All the little things that slip your mind are in here. I'm not even finished but I adore this book and will be studying it like crazy. Some parts can feel a little gratuitous, but honestly it's fun to have that extra information in a way. I love this book regardless, it deserves 5 stars.
