Do you need to calibrate it every time you turn it on?

We would recommend a calibration the first time you use it. The calibration will stay with the device even when you power it off. If the device is impacted or you feel that the readings are off as well as every 6-12 months a calibration would be advisable.

Can this device be used to measure existing angles on an "A" frame structure?

I bought this device because I thought it wood be able to tell me exactly how many degrees off a true level or vertical a surface was BUT you must lay it on a truly level surface when you turn it on so it can calibrates itself .Then it can tell you how many degrees the succeeding surfaces are from the first surface where you calibrated it .if the first surface or calibrating surface is not true level ...every measurement you make going to be off the same amount .

Can it display in rise:run? Such as 4:12 roof pitch?

If you know the angle, or conversely, you know the slope, you can calculate the other by using this little inexpensive, highly rated device--Johnson Level & Tool 750 Pitch and Slope Locator

Does this level have an audible indicator of level/non-level?

Factory brochure says the 80 series does not have a buzzer, while all other listed models do. This answer is in the DWL80E listing.
