Does the net bag in the upper cover have space for a few extra pills? I have a 9 day vacation.

Loose pills will definitely fit-if you're using a container, it should be flat & square-ish or rectangular in order for the case to zipper closed-like something 1/2' in width by 4-5 inches long & only about 2 inches wide-like the shape of a smaller cell phone, but with a little more side depth.

Size- does each day hold 6 fish oil capsules, or will 6 fish oil capsules fit into each side-ex 6 am, 6 pm? i'm trying to make sure of the size.

No one in this household takes fish oil capsules so I can't try to fit them in but the measurements for ONE compartment are 1 5/8" X 1 1/18" and it's 1/2" high. Looking at one of our daily boxes, there is one capsule and three ordinary pills. I could definitely fit 6 of the capsules that he takes into one side.

Are the lids on real hinges or just a strip of plastic that will wear out from constant use?

These are molded plastic, but seem tougher than other similarly designed pill planners I've had that lasted for several years. The way I use these, I only open each compartment twice per week... once to fill and once to empty. So even if these lids wear out after 500 openings, that is 5 years, which I feel is more than reasonable for this price.
