I got this and paired it with the Skar 8" sub box from Amazon. Unfortunately, after multiple attempts to mount this, it just is too small to match up to the box. The baffle for the speaker and placement of the holes for the screws is too tight, so in order to make contact with the box, you need to mount with extreme outward angle on the screws, which in turn does not properly seal the sub the box. It is a shame because despite my best attempt, this sub is not compatible with the most widely utilized 8" box. The sub itself is heavy duty and absolutely appears to be of high quality, it's just nearly impossible to mount unless you're ok with having an improper seal or you create a custom wood baffle adapter. I can't recommend due to not being able to secure properly.

VERY stiff suspension, so might take some "breaking in" to get the full experience, but seems good so far running off of my Fosi Audio BT30D Pro sub channel. I ordered the Skar Audio SK1X8V box for it since it seemed to match the recommended box specs pretty much perfectly. Seems to be a good match, but anything under around 36-38hz it almost inaudible unless you boost it with EQ. The cutout on the SK1X8V is also FAR too large for the VMAX8, so you will need to augment things a bit to make sure it actually seals against the box, and you will need to make sure your screw heads FULLY cover the mounting holes on the sub otherwise air will leak thru them and make a terrible whistle/woosh sound constantly. For me I was able to insert the mounting screws at a steep outward angle to bite the baffle properly, and tightening them down just right got a good enough seal. For a home stereo setup like Im using it on, it is more than enough even with just 100-200w, so I would be curious to see what it can do off of 500+ in a car. May test it but the amp in my car at the moment is good for over 5000w RMS, so I would need to be very careful if I wanted to try that ha..
