Amazing!
After the end of TCOGB, this became on of my most anticipated books of 2022. After the cliffhanger of the last book, I couldn't wait to see what happens with Poppy and Cas's story. The War of Two Queens was an epic continuation of The Blood and Ash Series! The pages are filled with love, friendship, war, death and so much more, this book was impossible to put down. I devoured the book so quickly. The series continued to unfold in a way that was not only intricate but has me so invested and wowed at how Jen can tie everything together in a way that makes my head explode! And each character own my heart in their own special ways. With twists, turns and epic reveals you will be glues to this book from start to finish! From the start you are consumed with happiness and worry; I was so excited to read Cas's POV and experience his thoughts and feelings but with the end of the last book you know he is not in a good spot. It hurt to see him go through something so horrible again and I wanted to become stabby for him. I was so anxious reading his chapters and was just waiting for Poppy's and Cas's reunion. The things he would do for love, for Poppy and his friends was just everything. You could feel emotions right of the page, bur even going though the worst he would preserve and have hope and determination.Poppy was dealing with a lot throughout the book; her husband sacrificing himself, the revelations about her family and bloodline, and dealing with her powers but she tried to remained strong and determined, I loved her for it. you could feel her pain at moments, the trials she had to go through and the horrible heart wrenching lessons she learned kept giving me all the emotions. During the book Poppy's heart wasn't whole. For the first time in a while she was separated from Cas and she ached for Cas. For knowing the horror that he must be going through. I'm so glad she has Kieran by her side, and how he helped her through everything. Their relationship really grew in this book and he had her back without any hesitation.Even through the sadness of some parts, there was also so many moments that made me laugh and smile. I loved the side characters so much, especially Reaver, Delano, Netta. We got a better look into what type of people they are and I loved! I would not be okay with anything happening to any of them. They added the lightness that was needed in the moments of darkness. I loved having Reaver and the Drakens, they added to the story. I loved the different places we went too, and seeing Poppy become the queen that we wanted to see her as. I loved her growth in this book, and how she became even more of a badass. And even though it was sad Cas wasn't there I liked that she was able to do it on her own and find herself on her own.The plot was filled with more twists and turns that were shocking and just made everything click into place. There was some great badass moments with Poppy and her army. The title of the book really lived up to the story, and the last few chapters caused me to have my heart in my throat with shock, happiness and my mind blown. I was on the edge of my seat with this book. You will meet new characters, learn new information, and have your mind blown again and again. and once you finish I will guarantee you will be sitting there for at least ten minutes trying to process everything and also wish you had the next book immediately. And while this story is within the From Blood and Ash Series, the ties into A Shadow in the Ember and it's story. I defiantly feel like there will be some sort of crossover with the books with how the stories are intwining. It is a must read before you dive into this book, and will help understand plot points again.Jen continues to wow me with each book in this series and the rest of the series is defiantly going to be epic! A lot of questions were answered, there was great scenes and epic battles and I couldn't be happier! Jen's books always take you on a wild ride and you will not be disappointed with this book!

EPIC
This was EPICThere is no other words to describe it.There isn't much I want to say, there was a bit in the middle slower that make it a bit difficult to go through but after that the flow and the action is great, quick pace and make you contain you breath.I have a new favourite character, before I loved all the characters more or less the same but now I can say with certainty that Reaver is my favourite 😍 seriously he is the best.I love the evolution of Casteel, Poppy and Kieran relationship, it was so beautiful and well written. Then the ending when for a while I was tricked in to thinking this was the last book of the series, and I panicked 😳 but now the will be more and I cant wait. I think this is my favourite book of the series so far.

I ate a lot of ham.
I have said this about the previous books but feel it is worth stating again - I found FBAA at a very difficult time mentally. At that point, I was looking for what fictional worlds tend to provide - escapism. It wasn't until I joined Bookstagram where I realised it was very much a marmite series for many - you either love it or you hate it. And that's ok! But what I cannot take is the utter hatred and unnecessary animosity towards the series or the author. You can dislike a book/series, that is absolutely fine. But please remember there is a person behind this. A real person.Now... on to my actual review.Justification for four stars? Because I enjoyed it that's why.Ok here is my brain dump:-Draken - sad face-Naysayers!! Those who thought it was a carbon copy of FBAA! I knew ASITE was going to come into play in a big way and that those similarities would make sense! I had faith.-Reaver - that's all on that one-Valyn giving me goosebumps straight out of the gate!-What the actual f Malik?-The scene where all the children names are shouted (*crying)-Emil you legend-If Delano or Vonetta die I will never forgive you JLA-Reaver & Kieran's banter may be the best thing ever-Delano reading the journal-38% Vikter-Tawny back talking Kieran-Go get our King, my Queen-The handmaiden - I actually called that one (which never happens. I never pick up on these things)-Kieran and Cas' reunion - slightly rivals Dorian and Chaol's (I say slightly)-Malik you f! (I noted this a lot)-The language doesn't bother me as it does some others - it is a fictional world is in my head I don't need their conversations to be specific to a period of time. Plus I love banter and we get a lot of that.-Pacing felt more even in this one-I enjoyed Cas' POV but wanted just a bit 'more'. I loved seeing how he feels about Poppy and his conversations with others without her but also felt some of that could have been condensed. He was definitely more on the back burner in this one (and I'm fine with that!). I still love him with all my heart. He reminds me so much of my husband that I don't think I could ever dislike him.-Joining - I didn't hate it even though that wasn't something I didn't want (unpopular opinion). It did feel a bit confusing not knowing who or what was where? Also, it felt insignificant to everything else going on but I actually liked that. I'm not in this series for the spice. I love spice as much as the next guy but it isn't the main point for me so I'm glad it didn't overshadow literally EVERYTHING ELSE-Malik you d!-Every time Callum gets killed I laughed-Delano and Poppy - my one quite major critisim is that Delano and Poppy's relationship especially with the 'I am with you' felt too much like Aelin and Fenrys-Delano dying - I literally had to stop myself from throwing my Kindle.-It's all merging now.... YAY!-World build is still A LOT. But it's never bothered me before and didn't bother me now. I actually felt I picked up more in this book than any of the others!Did you make it this far? Hahaha. I know it's a lot but I feel a lot for this series and 97% of that is really positive feelings. To reiterate - please form your own opinion on this and remember that there is someone behind this series that puts her heart and soul into it. Think of how it would feel if something you created was consistently bashed. Not cool.

QUEEE???
Ansioso por The Primal of Blood and Bone e A Fire in the Flesh!É incrível como tudo se conecta, desde From Blood and Ash até A Shadow in the Ember. Para quem não leu o spin-off: está perdendo, pois profecias e segredos estão todos interligados entre a série principal e o spin-off.

I Absolutely Love this Book - Don't Give the Haters the Time of Day
THIS REVIEW IS NOT SPOILER FREEThis is a worthy successor to the four books before and while answering a lot of questions, opens just a many more. What/who is Callum? Will Malik and Milly get together? What’s going on with Tawny? What does the Gods waking up mean for the kingdoms? Is the Rot back? Those are just a fraction of the so many questions I have. What a wild, intense, emotional ride. I loved every bit of this book and can’t wait for the next one.Thoughts on poor reviewsFirst, my thoughts on the poor reviews since they seem to mostly center around the Poppy, Cass, Kieran relationship. Anyone who didn't see the Joining coming did not read the same books I did. It has been talked about and hinted at Book Two - A Kingdom of Flesh and Fire, so it should come as NO surprise to anyone. It was first used a tool to freak poor Poppy out by Alistair but then it was talked about as a way to extend Poppy's life. Poppy didn't want to do it at that time because she didn't want to take a chance of Kieran dying because his life was tied to hers. It was because of her love for him. When the Joining finally happens, it is to save Kieran’s life. However, Poppy has already been thinking about it even before the Blood Queen’s curse because she couldn’t bare to think about life without Kieran. Anyone complaining about the Joining absolutely do not get this relationship at all.We also need to remember this was already the Bond between Cas and Kieran before Poppy ever came into the picture. That Bond had been there practically since birth. And, yes, it was broken when the Primal Notam settled with Poppy but that DIDN’T CHANGE the love that Cas and Kieran had for each other. They were closer than brothers. When Poppy connected to all of the wolven, she became so much more.I can’t even begin to fathom where people are coming up with Poppy cheating on Cas. We already knew he was okay with a Joining and even so, nothing actually happened between Kieran and Poppy until the Joining except for her feeding from his wrist. I actually think this was a very sweet scene, extremely well written by JLA. Kieran and Poppy have always been a bit flirtatious with each other. I mean who many times has Poppy said she was going to stab Kieran? That’s foreplay for her and Cas. It’s just natural for this to be part of the Kieran/Poppy relationship as well. Now onto my thoughts about this amazing book.I’ve read books with some pretty twisted characters but The Blood Queen takes first prize is twisted characters. To treat her daughters this way… I just can’t even… To raise Poppy just to be a sacrifice to bring Kolis back is unforgivable. Then to tell Poppy she killed Malec instead of her because she loves her? Really? I’d like some popcorn and a front row seat at her torture in the Abyss please and thank you.The Cass/Poppy/Kieran relationship – Perfectly set up if you were even paying half attention to the previous books and even if you weren’t, what else would you expect from Poppy when she realized she would outlive BOTH Cas and Kieran. She is a Primal after all. The Joining ceremony was extremely well written as only JLA can do. A bit awkward. A bit romantic. A bit ritual. A bit hot. I’m so glad the morning after wasn’t weird between them. Once the Joining took worked, it shouldn’t be. I was really happy with Poppy being surprised that it wasn’t awkward. The buildup to the final scenes had me needing life support. I felt the tension from the characters. Hell, I was tense. I wanted to hide under my covers, but then I couldn’t find out what happened next. LOLPoppy handled receiving Cas’ ring and finger much better than I did. Glad I didn’t have her powers because my house would have been flattened. The secrets that Cas’ parents kept would have had me never speaking to them again. I mean, it’s one thing to keep something that would only hurt from your children but to keep something as important from them as who the Blood Queen really is, is beyond forgivable. Arguably, they are at fault for Malik’s and Cas’ capture and for this whole bloody mess. I hope we get more of an explanation as to why they did this in the next book or two…if there is an explanation. Then the loss of all of our friends during the final battle. OMG! I had a heart attack. So glad the Consort fixed that otherwise I would have been in mourning for years.I could go on forever but hopefully, this will give someone the courage to go on and read this amazing book despite the haters.

All that was promised
I've been following this series since book 1, i fell in love with the characters right there in FBaA, now we can see that all that happened in TCoGB AND twotq was foretold in FBaA and AKOFAFMost theory revelations were not big shocks, or major plot twists, i mean, there were a lot of surprises, but nothing just came out of the blueYou don't see it at first, but world building really did start in book 1, we just didn't understand, the Ascension, the rite, the maiden, the vamprys, we started getting the explanation to all of that from book one, book 3 gets a tad confusing, but then in this book, against all odds, it makes complete sense, it ALL makes sense nowNot all questions are answered, but you do get more answers that questions in this oneDon't let bad reviews discourage you, the books are amazingEnjoy ❤️

Holy Smokes
Holy Moly!I'm at a loss for words after finishing The War of Two Queens (TWOTQ). I feel like my mind is blown into many pieces after reading it. This book is a masterpiece. If you have read my reviews in the past you would know I'm a huge fan of Jen's since 2011. Her writing since has made me addicted to read anything she will write because they are all amazing. She has out done herself with this one because I would give her a standing ovation. The War of Two Queens is the fourth book in the Blood and Ash series and it has so many twists and turns that you won't expect. Poppy's family tree is definitely the most intriguing as well as many other characters we start to get to know better. I would recommend you read A Shadow in the Ember before reading this. There is very important information that you will need to know. So go pick it up!One thing I did love in this one was Poppy and Cas. I will always enjoy reading about them and the things that Casteel says will make you swoon. I was definitely highlighting as I was reading because the information was so important because while we love the romance, this one was plot driven and I loved learning everything along with Poppy. JLA's character development was phenomenal, these characters have gone through so much especially Poppy as she is coming into her powers in each book. She is a total badass even as a Queen. This book was absolutely epic! I'm already looking forward to the fifth book and the next Flesh and Fire book! Thank you Jen for allowing me to review all of your amazing books. I cannot wait to see what will happen! If you haven't started this series yet, go do it immediately!
