I have olive skin and it works for me, but I could see it working for skin slightly lighter. I think different people can use this for varied purposes. I use it to cover the super pale skin under my eyes so that my overall skin tone looks more even. Then I go over with my foundation and you can't even tell the concealer is there. If you are super pale and don't tan, I'd probably recommend a lighter shade. I think the most important thing is that this shade is close to your skin tone. I hope this helps.
