Shocking!
In the last couple of years I have started using a very high grade anti oxidant serum. Now that I am 50 and a life long runner by the beach, I wish I would have started this habit earlier. I had been using a high grade serum with vitamin C + Ferulic that cost me $165 (this price made me cringe) but I thought it was good for my skin. I heard about Tannic CF from a friend and she was raving about it and this serum was A LOT less expensive, so I bought this over Prime Days about 7 weeks ago. I noticed using a little is better for absorption in the morning which is another great point on the value. I am writing this review because I will never not use this serum. I can't believe how healthy and smooth my skin looks...even my husband noticed! GREAT PRODUCT!

So far , the ONLY product I have ever purchased that actually makes a difference.
At 56, I am suddenly frantic about my skin care routine. Years of slathering on baby oil instead of sunscreen, ( and other bad behavior) has left it’s mark on me. That being said, I have found a magic potion in this product !! This is my second bottle and I have a third waiting in the wings as soon as this one is gone. I use it on my face, my neck, my décolleté , and the back of my hands. My skin has become increasingly smooth to the touch and to the naked eye. It’s a miracle !!! This is a product I NEVER want to be without!

AlphaScience serum
First impression: This oily serum smells like ferulic acid. Which is to say, it doesn't smell pleasant but such is the way when it comes to ferulic acid 🤷♀️ It's oily like all vitamin C or ferulic acid serums I've tried in the past. The description says to use this in the AM but I can't. It makes my face too shiney and greasy. So I've been using it in the PM under a moisturizer. My made in France bottle expires in 2023 but its worth mentioning that once you open the bottle the contents should be used within 3 months. It likely won't go rancid after that but the ingredients will begin to lose their potency.

My skin loves it
The Alphascience tannic serum is exactly what my skin has been needing. My face loved it after the first application. I have used it for a month. I am in the sun a lot and have noticed sun spots starting to fade, my skin looks smoother, brighter and firmer. I noticed a big difference on the back of my hands too as I put the extra serum there. I follow it up with the alphascience surface cream and it’s all I need. It is definitely worth the price. I just ordered again.

Feels good on my skin but is it worth the price?
It’s always hard to review products like this because the price is the main thing people look at first. Is this really worth $110? It has a lot of high-end ingredients in it and it’s made in France, so that’s part of the reason for the price. The rest is probably to create hype and make it seem luxurious. Hard to say. But this does make my skin feel good and after a week or so I can say that I definitely like it. I don’t see any huge improvements but it’s really too soon to see that. This serum is really more like a face oil than a serum. It has vitamin C in it along with other ingredients, and it’s kind of an amber color. It feels like an oil going on so I put it on after my other serums. I know you should put vitamin C on first, but it’s easier to layer other serums under this rather than over it — for me anyway. Everyone’s skin is different and my skin is dry so I’m used to using oils on my skin and they absorb really well for me. If you have oily skin or live in a humid environment, you might want to just use this at night. But I’m in a desert climate so everything absorbs on my skin. You don’t have to use much of this so even though it’s expensive, it should last. I do know that with vitamin C and similar serums that you want to use them within a few months of opening them so they don’t lose their potency, but this has a long expiration date so if you keep it tightly closed and stored in a cool dark place, it could last longer. Again, that’s different depending on the climate. Overall I can say that this is a great serum and does seem to be helping my skin. It’s not erasing wrinkles or making me look 20 years younger, but my skin feels good when I use this. That being said, I can’t really justify the price for myself. But if it’s in your budget, this is a really nice serum. If nothing else, you can always return it in 30 days if it doesn’t work for you.

Don't See Anything That Justifies This Price Tag
This super pricey serum uses ascorbic acid, a.k.a. Vitamin C, in conjunction with tannic and ferulic acid to help fade discoloration and spots. It's very liquid-y, which can make it hard to apply, and the dark amber color will stain white towels, so be aware. To make this easier, and less messy, to apply I mixed a few drops in with my regular moisturizer in my palm. C serum absolutely does work to help fade age spots and brighten skin, but it can also irritate more sensitive skin, and this did mine, leaving it a little flaky. Admit I didn't see anything about it, even before that mild reaction, to justify the sky-high price point, as there are lots of serums which an incredibly similar ingredient list and form factor for a fraction of the price.

Oily
This is the only Alphascience product I've used that I don't care for. It's oily and takes a good 60 minutes before I quit feeling the tacky feeling on my face. I absolutely dislike any skincare that's an oil. To get Vitamin C there are other brands that cost less that do the same thing without the oil.

I will buy again
I am a believer in a good antioxidant serum. The Tannic description seemed to be perfect my sun damaged and super dry skin, I am an 80’s child. I travel A LOT and the airplane air is unforgiving to this skin of mine! Tannic serum smells like burnt oranges. I only use 3 drops on my face- it’s VERY concentrated. I really like it. It has a really nice silky texture and the serum absorbs fast. My skin looks brighter since I started using it.
