Hot in Cleveland: The Complete Series

Awesome TV series a younger version of Golden Girls. And like GG this has the amazing Betty White!

Arrived exactly as expected, great program

This review is for "HOT! IN CLEVELAND" complete TV Series. This is one of those show from a little cable channel known as "TV LAND". TV LAND is a spin-off channel of the old original "Nick-At-Night". Original shows from these little cable only channels are usually low budget and poorly written and poorly cast. So I never watched Hot In Cleveland until it showed up on the GET TV network a year ago. I caught a few episodes and found myself laughing my butt off. The basic plot is that 3 women from Hollywood were on a plane to Paris when the plane had problems and had to land in Cleveland Ohio for a day. The 3 women (now in their 40's) go into a local bar and find the men checking them out. They were not getting this treatment in Hollywood anymore. But in Cleveland, they were considered HOT!. They ended up moving to Cleveland permanently. The 3 main characters are, 1. Melanie Hope Moretti..... played by the still beautiful and oh so hot Valerie Bertinelli. Melanie is a little conservative, but don't be fooled. She is far from innocent. 2. Rejoyla "Joy" Scroggs..... played by Jane Leeves. Joy is a skinny British woman who has the attitude "WTF". But she always looks sexy in her short skirts. 3. Victoria Chase..... played by Wendy Malick. Victoria used to be the star of a soap opera and is having a hard time finding acting jobs because of her age. Victoria has an ego that thinks she is the hottest thing to come out of Hollywood, but isn't getting any offers anymore. She loves herself but has a little heart. But the hottest little number on this show is Elka Ostrovsky played by the incomparable Betty White as the girl's sassy house caretaker. Elka is a real smart mouth and gets a lot of the best lines in the show. She may be in her late 80's in the show, but she acts like she is 18. Every episode is filled with good laughs. The humor is done with class and style. It is not some old silly crap. The humor is intelligent and aimed at adults. I can't believe a big network didn't do this show. The show had a big budget and was recorded with a live studio audience at the CBS Studio City in Hollywood. But it was TV LAND's first effort at a first run series comedy. The show had great ratings too. TV LAND is known for just showing old reruns. Almost every episode had a well known star from the past. Most of Betty White's friends from the old Mary Tyler Moore Show reunited on HOT! including Valerie Harper, Georgia Engel, Cloris Leachman, Gavin MacLeod and Mary Tyler Moore. Carl Reiner, Tim Conway, Susan Lucci, Huey Lewis, Juliet Mills, Jon Lovitz, Georgia Engel as Elka's friend, Dave Foley, Craig Ferguson, Heather Locklear, and dozens more made appearances and recurring rolls. A few cast members from Valerie's old TV show "One Day At A Time" like Bonnie Franklin, Mackenzie Phillips and Pat Harrington also came on the show. The Home DVD series is 6 seasons 128 episodes on 17 discs. Every show looks great in 16:9 widescreen and sound great in Dolby 5.1 surround. Of course the only problem is the stupid packaging. They use one large case with several flip trays. Each tray holds 2 disc on one side, and 2 discs on the other side. The discs overlap each other. On one side of a tray is 2 discs. One at the top and one overlapping it near the bottom. You have to remove the top disc to get the bottom one out, then do it backwards when you finish with it. You have to do this with each tray. I found cases with separate trays (One disc on each side) that fit the whole series. Much better. If you are a fan of HOT!, then get this DVD package. If you have never seen the show, you don't know what you are missing. Get this series anyway and I promise you will become a fan after the first disc.

Oboy, I really didn't expect much from this series but I gotta tell you Betty white steals the show at 90 years young!!!! It's the perfect cast for this show and it's lol funny!!! I highly recommend this DVD collection and the seller.it came in great condition and played perfectly! Get yours while you can! P.s. if your sides hurt from laughing,go with it! 😂

If I could give the show more than five stars I would. Great chemistry within the cast. Betty is a class act all by herself, and working with three other classy ladies this show is a must add to your collection. Why only four stars you ask. Packaging and shipping are a whole other story. It takes some pretty rough handling to break the outer plastic case. Packed properly it would probably survive the trip regardless of poor handling. Sellers need to take more time to pack properly. Clearly my seller didn’t. Outer case shattered and discs were floating around inside when I received it. The very last disc attaches to the back of the case and is pretty scratched up. Sad for the price I paid. I can always find a replacement disc, but should I have to? Sellers do a better job!!!

Love the cast and story line. Just a fun sitcom that is not too goofy, but very funny. Betty White is stellar. And I forgot Daphne Moon from Frasier is on this show too. She is great. Complete set of dvd’s for a good price. Added to my old tv show collection.

Elles sont irrésistibles de drôlerie. C'est bon enfant et léger. Une très bonne sitcom qui ne semble pas avoir été diffusée jusqu'à maintenant sur les télés françaises. Betty white avec ses répliques cinglantes amène du pep face à ce trio de quadras, plutôt quinquas qui savent s'amuser. La chaîne Téva serait tout à fait dans la cible. Attention pas de sous-titres en français et on est en zone 1. Les sous-titres en anglais apparaissent à partir de la saison 4.

I love this very funny series. I was interested in it after Betty White passed away as I never saw all the episodes on TV and I love everything she was in. The four actresses are top notch interacting together, and great as individuals in previous series. They are all very funny. The boxed set came only a few days after I ordered it and in very good condition.
