Works Well With HomeKit-Aware Devices - IR Blaster A Bonus
This hub makes a solid connection to my 2.4 gHz WiFi network and provides good coverage. Most (and so far for me, all) Aqara smart items bridged through it can be addressed in HomeAssistant through the HomeKit integration. No need to bother with Matter - unless you want to. The IR blaster, however, only functions with the phone app and does not expose paired items with HomeAssistant - and that it's only minus in my opinion. However, as I view the IR blaster as a nice bonus, and not core to the product I didn't dock the item a star in my rating. However, if the IR blaster were to be exposed - now, that would be something special! Devices are easy to set up and this hub performs a good as advertised. It's price point makes it a good choice for any home wanting to add good Zigbee coverage for the Aqara ecosystem. Nice. Also, note that I run this hub alongside another Zigbee coordinator (a USB stick) and both networks function without issue even though my 2.4 gHz spectrum is pretty saturated with competing networks. Again, nice!

Aqara stands by their products.
I bought the M2 hub about a month ago opened it 2 weeks later because I was moving. Setup was a breeze, then the next day it was offline line no problem saw there was a firmware update did it worked for about 2 days now it stays offline will not reboot by hold the button. Even when unplugged and waiting to reconnect it boots back to offline. Customer service? Ha put in a ticket received a response the next day asking for information. Sent it didn't hear back from them again until 4 days later after I put in another ticket and then they asked to connect to the hub all I have to do is go into the hub messages and give approval. Problem there's no message. So I'm still stuck with a non functional hub. Edit 10/30. Barry was very helpful in troubleshooting the problem I was having. He went through every possible solution to get it back up and running before it was ruled dead. Aqara sent out a replacement and it works as intended. Which is good because I really like they're products. Finished setting up my door and motion sensors. Leak detectors and plugs. I'll be added their present sensor soon.

Works as expected.
I did not use the WiFi connectivity. I preferred using the wired connection. Attaching the device to Apple HomeKit was easy. Though, a little disappointment with the integration to HomeKit : this device seems turning around a Security System. Not like the Hue bridge from Philips, you don’t find your hub. And if you delete from HomeKit the security system, all the sensor disappears. This is a bad integration. Also, temperature sensors that are added on the hub are shown in the same room as the hub. Be sure to name your sensor accordingly to their respective room if you want to know where these are installed. Conclusion, the hub is doing its job, but very poor integration to Apple HomeKit. No room sync between the Aqara Home app and the Apple Home app. The Aqara Home app seems having less functionalities regarding the Xiaomi app which is supposed to be compatible. No sensor battery status on the Aqara Home app. Need to check this on the Apple Home app. A big effort for Apple HomeKit integration is required. PS, after the sensors have been added, it’s impossible to move them to another room. I therefore deleted the hub from HomeKit and reattached it in a room called Aqara (in Home App). Maybe it is possible while you’re adding the sensors to add them one by one and move the hub from room to room before adding the sensor, and maybe the sensor will be attached to the proper room. Something to try if you have time.

Absolute trash
Absolute trash. Wouldn’t connect to Aqara motion sensors less than 5 feet away. Connectivity issues so bad that it was unusable (both connecting to the motion sensors and staying connected via Ethernet). Tech support was useless. Save your money and your time.

Works great and I receive messages from the added sensors
Another add on to the barn. I used this with a door sensor which will send me text messages via WIFI when the barn door is opened or closed. Has worked great. Now I am informed and can take a look with my IP cameras.

The Aqara Smart Hub M2 has exceeded my expectations in every way. As a central component of my smart home setup, it seamlessly integrates with home assistant makes my setup easier. Setting up the hub was straightforward, requiring only a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi connection, it serves as a robust bridge for my alarm system, IR remote control, and home automation needs. The hub's compatibility with Aqara devices and third-party smart home products makes it a versatile choice for expanding my smart home ecosystem. I appreciate its reliable performance and the convenience it adds to my daily routine. Overall, the Aqara Smart Hub M2 is a must-have for anyone looking to enhance their home with smart technology. It delivers on its promises of functionality, ease of use, and broad compatibility with popular smart assistants.

I'm not sure why others have mentioned that's it's difficult to setup and configure because I had it up and running in about 2 minutes and had linked my motorised blinds (Roller Shade Driver E1) and set a schedule for them in about 5 minutes and I've never used such a device before. I am however very 'tech-savey' so maybe it's just easy for me. I'll update if any issues occur, but for now - excellent.

Been working on my smart home ever since the first echo dot was released. I wish I knew about Aqara sooner. As I’m now slowly changing each device over to theirs for the following reasons: easy set up, integration, ease of use and they just work. They do exactly what they are designed to do and the additional functionality of this hub being an ir blaster means I can also use it to control anything that uses a remote that does not have smart features built in. If you share starting out on your smart home journey. Do yourself a favour, save money in the long run and use Aqara. You won’t be disappointed
