safe and sturdy bed rail
This bed rail really works well. Make sure you measure the mattress, width and height of bed from floor. I ordered a 27in. high bed rail and it's great. Had to have someone install as you have to place a strap in between the two mattresses. Easy to install. I installed it on a twin mattress, remote control bed. Haven't had issues falling off the bed. However, you have to get in bed from the foot of the bed and slide in as the bed rail is on the right side. Be sure to get into the bed and see where the rail should be installed before it's finalized. The left side of the bed is by the wall. It's always a two person job!

Wonderful, if you can find spacers to compensate for a mattress toper.
I love it! It remains firmly in place, once it's properly installed; and makes no noise when used. And now - for the caveats. Amazon doesn't tell you that you should "NEVER use on beds with mattress toppers or soft compressible pads"; you have to wait until you get the nicely pictorialized and colorful 1 page instruction sheet to learn that. I didn't know that, so I had to 'improvise'. If you are mechanically inclined, detailed oriented, a problem solver, have common sense, are patient under pressure, can read between the lines (graphs), then you will probably do well. Fortunately, I already had some 2" and" 3" spacers that came with the bed we bought which could optionally be used to raises the bed to other heights if we desired. We used the 3" spacers to compensate for the mattress topper, 1. Step 10 of the instruction sheet tells you to insert 2 of the 4 the C-clamps into the left and right parts. It's obvious which are the left and right parts, but there were no holes in the outer and inner tubes, as there were in Step 3.2. This is where it gets tricky in step 10. I bought a dowel rod to fit in the 2 tubes, cut to length based on the height of the base support under the mattress. I also bought some metalic tape to keep the dowel in place since there weren't holes for the C-clamps. Use your creative imagination here. 3. Graphic #6 explains the Transition between Steps 5 and 7. 4. Only the flip-side of the Instruction Sheet explains, pictorially, what to do with the Safety Belt - but - it only 'implies' that you must put the belt in place BEFORE you put the mattress down; otherwise, it will be extremely difficult Use common sense here on how to 'securely' and 'tightly' anchor the belt at both ends. 5. Step 7 is what they call 'Part F' There are no Part No's G, H, or J. There may be other caveats. Unless you can find a mattress store that will sell some 2" and 3" spacers to compensate for the mattress topper, you will probably will want to go to 'plan B'

I had to pay return shipping. Not happy!
It's well made for the most part. Easy to put together. I couldn't make the bed properly. It don't bend /lay down. Had to order one that did. I was very upset that I had to pay return shipping. 7 bucks!

Just what was needed Post-Op
Needed for those crucial first days following lower spine surgery (when hospitals sent you home almost immediately after major surgery and while in excruciating pain), this device was invaluable in helping the patient pull self to roll up on his/her side — a little more each day — until able to sit up and eventually stand from the bed without needing someone to be there to do it for them. The very wide platform that slipped between the box spring and mattress is great for keeping the whole stand in place, and the legs are essential for reaching to the floor for deed stability. Soooooo very glad I bought it. A real life-saver.

Seems like a decently sturdy rail.
1 It's relatively short at the top. The portion that the mattress resides next to. The installation was easy but it only sticks up 2 or 3 inches above the mattress. It is a pillow top so it's a thicker than normal mattress.2 The lower leg portion is telescoping/extendable for taller beds which is great for some. My pops has a low to the ground frame because the wheels had to be removed to prevent the bed from moving out from under him. The issue is with the legs all the way collapsed they are just a tad too long for this particular bed.3 As I said it is stout. It fastened to the box spring with wood screws which is optional as there is a safety strap to secure it to the bed frame on the other side. Strong and secure. It just didn't fit my exact application. The product seemed solid and as advertised.
