Karma: A Yogi's Guide to Crafting Your Destiny

The teaching of Sadhguru is not new to me. Back around 1998 he came to Nashville Tennessee for a two week course, the meetings were each evening for 3 or so hours and then both weekends all day. I had always heard that the teacher arrives when the student is ready, and I was ready. I sat in his presence, trying to absorb everything like a human sponge. The time literally flew by, so enjoyable, almost magical. One of the best experiences of my whole life. Later that year I also attended a weekend intensive for even more amazing experiences. Since then dear Sadhguru has gone from an almost "secret" guru to a world famous teacher and mystic. The small group of less than 100 I was in now grows to sometimes thousands. A few years later he expanded from the solitary ashram in India to another one in Tennessee. World leaders ask him to speak. Yet decades later he is still the same warm, insightful, humorous,mystical and wise guru that I met back when no one knew who he was. I have not seen him in person since 2003 but have kept up with him and his books and yearly celebrations from India. He has written quite a few books along the way, but this one, I think, is the most useful for everyone, even those who have never met or heard of this teacher, those who may not want to devote life to a Guru or a system, yet want to make their life more joyful. This book, these words from this modern day master, can do just that.This book requuires no knowledge of yoga, or spiritual teaching, or any dogma. It is about life - your life- and concepts on how you can take control of your experience; no longer letting the world drag you around. You become the master of your own destiny. Sadhguru has a way of weaving a few tales and stories long the way, making for very enjoyable , even light reading. You will find yourself smiling many times. And there are meditations, or suggestions for subtle practices to enhance your life and experience. And while I recommend all of his books, I do think this is a good one to start with, one of his very best.During the past year Sadhguru traveled across the USA on motorcycle, and in California put out a video at the home of Will Smith, who has written a recommendation on the book cover. Now that's a big endorsement. But follow that with Tom Brady, best quarterback of all time, forever young. Maybe he got some of his "secrets" from Sadhguru? And yet another endorsement from Deepak Chopra, an amazing man and teacher himself. Wow that humble man from India I met decades ago now so famous. Over the past few decades, Sadhguru has touched so many people from the rich and famous, to humble part-time followers like myself. His teachings and methods work for everyone.If you read this book, and enjoy his words or benefit from them, take a look at the prior books, not a bad one in the group. Sadhguru also offers many teachings and meditations on youtube and on the ISHA website. He has an enigmatic way of speaking that makes it most enjoyable.Read this book, and work on that karma. Sadhguru’s Karma book is a riveting read, a must for all interested in understanding how life works. Sadhguru has delivered a masterpiece.I had heard so much about this book and was afraid the book would not live up to the high expectations I had. I must say it has surpassed all expectations and definitely delivered everything it promised and much more! Sadhguru has written a book not to just answer questions about karma, but as a way to open our mind to explore, experience and use it in our lives to chart our own course in life.I grew up with the idea that karma was destiny, something that was pre-ordained, something which was beyond my comprehension. Karma was something to go through, handled, managed or even suffered, without having a choice about it.Sadhguru totally shatters the myth that karma is destiny and so many other myths that have gathered around this word. He methodically, and painstakingly explains in detail how karma actually works and how it can be a source of our empowerment. He anticipates, counters and answers our unasked questions through out the book, including specific questions in the latter part of the book. He speaks from a certain knowing, and his piercing logic and clarity is apparent in the precise, and sometimes brutal, honesty with which he discusses the topic.This book can be looked at as a treatise on Karma. It explores the topic intellectually and in great detail, for example, defining and classifying the different types of karma. At the same time, it is a practical guide that can be used to live one’s life consciously and joyfully. In the second part of the book, he gives specific methods and tools how one can do this and move towards liberation.In his own inimitable style, Sadhguru intersperses the discussion on Karma with deeply insightful and witty stories which drive the point home beautifully.The ultimate goal of the author is to get us started on a journey of self exploration of “freedom and discovery. “ He states, he is “ not interested in offering spiritual advice. …What I offer is a way, a living process”in many ways, I felt this is a book about how life works and how we can use the process of life to create our destiny.It is book highly recommended for all- the novice, the intellectual, the academic, the seeker, the spiritual or simply, the curious ones.

One of the most important books ever written. I usually dont like to read cause anybody can write anything (as a way to make money). But we know that is never the mission of sadghuru. All of his books are life changing. He for sure changed mine. Stop reading reviews now and buy it, you will be happy you did.

The words of Sadhguru are like water for a great thirst. I have been a follower of for some time now. Karma is a wonderful description of the real meaning of karma.

Why does a new book have underlining?

I am a very picky reader. I am enjoying this book a lot.The only issue i have is, the printing quality of this book is not very good. Many Letters are half showing missing ink. But i am able to guess.

Ordered this book in the midst of what I thought was a spiritual awakening. I was being led back to Jesus Christ. These spiritual teachings are false and lead people astray. This book and other teachings led me far away from God and opened the demonic doors of deception. But God is faithful. He did not let me go, He was with me through it all and led me back to Him. Listen, we have one life. By God's grace, through faith, accept Jesus as Lord and Savior. Jesus is the only way to the Father. He is the only way to reconcile your relationship with God. This is the truth my friend, it is. Have a blessed life. I pray you come to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.

I found this an easy read that helped me understand and unload my stuck spots. I was inspired by page after page to finally take responsibility for my life and the changes required. Truly Life Inspiring. As a result I completed the Inner Engineering Online Course. Highly recommend!
