Oh I’m in love
Oh my gosh,,, listen up y’all. I’m usually the type of person that likes to just make a set of nails and glue them on but here lately with my job - that’s not working for me, because two days into having a set on they just pop off and we’ve all been there before so we know how frustrating it is. But when it comes to using this builder gel on your nails, it’s an absolute game changer. I have been using this for about 2 1/2 months now and I’ve literally just been filling my nails in when they grow out and they still look professional every single time. I’m getting so many compliments on my nails, because of how natural and professional they look with the builder gel, and not to mention the fact that there is absolutely no smell. Yes, it is sticky but you’ll get that when you work with gel in any form. I would honestly say that somebody who has been doing nails for a while it is easy for me, but for an absolute beginner starting out doing your nails, I would honestly go with a builder gel first before using an acrylic. I honestly would rather use this over poly gel also, but that’s just my opinion. It’s so easy to work with and is thick enough that it gives you time to mold the exact nail that you want without too much hassle. I’m absolutely in love with this stuff and so are the clients I use this product on.

Super Strong
As others have mentioned, this product is VERY sticky. If you have alcohol you can wipe down your brush and anything that gets sticky. I had tried soooo many products to find something that would make my natural nails stronger and LAST. I tried dip powder, gel polish, natural nail polish, and the list goes on. I had never used hard gel before this. It is a learning curve but once you get it holy cow!!! I watched a ton of modelone videos to make sure I was doing it properly. This cannot be emphasized more… you HAVE to properly prepare your nails or you won’t get a good result. I bought all the modelone products. The hydrator, the primer, base and top coat. You most definitely will need a nail drill for this product. My best friend used to be a master nail tech and I learned a few things from her. To get a good bond for nail tips, you need to rough up both your nail AND the underside of the tip. You also need to put nail glue on both your nail and underside of the nail tip. Hold in place for a few seconds and then use an orange stick to press the edges down for a few seconds. Then add another line of glue on the smile line of the tip. Once the glue dries, you can file it smooth before adding the gel. You do not need a base coat if doing builder gel. I actually think it holds better without. Something that people forget is to do a slip coat before putting on the larger gel layer. Just means you put a really thin layer on like you would put on polish. It makes all the difference in being able to manipulate the gel. Once you get the gel on, turn your nail over and let it hang down a bit. That will allow the shape to be natural and not be a flat mess. Use another smaller brush to clean the gel off the edges around the skin. Turn your nail over again and then quickly cure for 60 seconds. Look up YouTube tutorials on how to do this. You’ll thank me later. I’m to the point I can do my thumb first then all the rest of my fingers at the same time. As a beginner you may need to do one nail at a time to start. If you aren’t pleased with the smoothness of the gel coat, use alcohol to rub the nail, let dry a few seconds, then use a file and rough buffer to smooth. Then apply the top coat and cure another 60 seconds. If you want gel color over the tips, use the base coat, cure, two-three gel color coats, curing each coat, then top coat and cure. I have found not only do my gel nails and tips not pop off, but just like acrylic, I just grind down the hard gel and fill about every 3 weeks. This stuff is the final product I’ll ever use to do my own nails!!!! Be patient and practice. Definitely worth it if you love doing your own nails!! UPDATE: It’s now November 5th and my tips are still holding strong! I’ve done one fill since I initially did them and filed them back shorter. They look like they were just done.

Easy to use, but quality control needs improvemt
I love Modelones brand so when I saw they had builder gel, I didn't think twice before hitting "add to cart". The gel is thicker than most builder gels I feel. Even in hot weather it holds form pretty well. I did not have to stick it in cold water/freezer/fridge to harden it. I placed it and had minimal movement (outside of the normal self leveling). My only issue with the gel is quality control, which is why I gave 3 stars instead of 5. There were pieces of dark lint and a piece of hair- that I know is not mine as my hair is lavender and this hair was black (I've had this issue with their acrylics too) towards the bottom of the gel. Also when I was doing my nails I encountered a portion of cured gel in the container. It wasn't huge, about the size of a quarter and 3mm thick. Other than that this gel is easy to use, beginner friendly and a good price for the size (especially if you can get it on sale). I will definitely buy again. I just wish they had better quality control so cured gel and debris aren't floating around in the container.

Not recommended for beginners, but a great product!
I've been using Builder Gel to apply full cover tips for over a year. I have better control with gel in a pot instead of bottle, so I decided to try this. My tips as well as dehydrator and primer are from Modelones and I've always had success. I prepped the usual way, applied primer to the inside of the tip, applied a thin layer of the gel to my nails, cured, then applied the gel in the full cover as normal. No air bubbles and very little side spillage. Cured as normal and they looked great. A light amount of gel under the tip, nothing that couldn't be cleaned with an e-file. After I'd finished a couple of nails, I noticed a tip coming loose. I gave a slight wriggle and it popped off. I was left with a perfect hard gel nail! Gorgeous apex and only a little filing was needed to refine the shape and file under the perfect C curve. I know that primer helps the full cover tip adhere to the nail, so they should have stayed on. I tried a couple of nails with no primer under the tip and the same results. I know using full cover tips a duel forms hack and it definitely worked for giving me a flawless cuticle and apex. I will say after the quick cure to apply the tip, even with a full cure, only one tip was difficult to remove. I do wonder if true soft gel nails would have stayed on. I do not believe the nails I used are soft gel though (I got them with the Modelones kit with the base/builder in a bottle and lamp). The results are not what I was expecting, but beautiful none the less. I will try it again with soft gel nails to see what happens. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because I was not able to get the tips to stay on and also because the consistency IS really sticky. The stickyness reminds me of polygel. I don't feel it's a product for beginners because can be quite messy if you're new to nails. However, using the gel for pop off nails, I am left with gorgeous nails.

Takes time but worth it!!
I watched a utube video how to place stickers on nails I was able to get length I wanted it was very easy to do. If it's tacky use alcohol wipe. I thought it wasnt curing, it was. Then file Because first time it was all over place. I'm sure more I use the better I will be and they lasted 2 weeks came off easily. Didn't effect my nails at all as acrylics and press ons do. Worth it! If you want to protect your nails and have length this is it! Dip your brush in acetone often so it doesn't get hard. You can move it around more easily. If it's thin just add more to it.

Complete waste of money.
This is unusable and won’t setup under any light. I should have done this review before now, I completely forgot about it until I just pulled it out of the back of my cabinet. I like every other ModelOne product I have purchased but this was a huge waste of money. It’s as sticky and runny as the other reviews say and mine would never harden under the UV/LED light. I even thought it might be my light but after buying a new light and trying a couple of others there’s no question that it’s the gel. I tried 4 different kinds of lamps; even after over 5 minutes under the lamps it still never hardens at all and the amount of gel used doesn’t matter either. I might not have been so upset if I had been able to get a refund but it took months to get a response from anyone and I was told it was too late. Customer service had never been great but after this I will never purchase another ModelOne product again.

Surprising
First time using builder gel with my UV/LED light and then dip powder using 6-1 gel glue. Excellent results. My nails were short before. This rocks. Also a little goes a long way. I accidentally left them too thick. But excellent gel! Super útil and fácil de usar. Lo hice con mi lámpara y polvo dip, después 6 en uno Gel pagamento, y listo! Las dejé un poco gruesas pero es mi primera vez. Feliz con mis resultados.

I bought this as a beginner
Bought this last year in May and there is still half of the container left! To me, that's a lot of product for the price! I use this stuff every time I redo my nails, which is every 2-3 weeks now or whenever they start lifting from my natural nail. Given I use it over my natural nails so it's a lot easier than making a nail out of it from scratch. When I first got this I only knew about Gel polish and would use it so my nails wouldn't break so easily digging in the garden and it was ok but alone was not great for strength. So I stumbled upon this builder gel and decided to try it out. At first the builder gel would lift off my nails within the first few days because I didn't know what I was doing. I learned as I went and sometimes my nails looked so horrible! It really helps to have a Dremel to smooth out lumps and bumps you might have cured before it evened out. I love this stuff and will be putting it in my cart again! Now that I've learned how to use it properly, this stuff stays on forever! It is strong and has kept my actual nails from breaking. I can finally have them at at decent length or grow them out for coffin nails! I just shape my nails how I want before brushing on the builder gel. I'm no professional and I still think of myself as a beginner because I'm not out here making nails from scratch or anything but I must say I am really happy with how my nails look now compared to when I first got this. They actually look like I paid someone to do them now! :)
