OEM Quality - Made in the USA
About a year ago I bought a Gates 38157 Belt Tensioner Assembly for a 2001 Dodge Ram 2500 diesel truck. It had a "Made in Korea" sticker on it. In less than a year the accessory drive belt started squealing. I was sure it could't be the Gates tensioner because it was so new, because after all, the original tensioner installed by Dodge lasted almost 10 years. So I replaced the drive belt twice (two different brands) and then the alternator, but the squealing continued. At this point I decided to try replacing the tensioner again. In researching which brand of tension to buy, I stumbled across a post on a forum that said Dayco supplies tensioners to Mopar (Dodge). I ordered this one from Amazon for half what Dodge wanted and got it in 2 days using Amazon Prime. I installed it and the belt squealing has completely STOPPED!In comparing the Gates tensioner to the Dayco, the main differences seem to be:1. The Dayco has better idler pulley alignment with the rest of the pulleys in the accessory drive system.2. The Gates tensioner didn't pivot smoothly.... it feels sticky in its movement. The Dayco pivots smoothly.3. The Dayco tensioner pulley is made of a composite material whereas the Gates appears to be made of metal.4. The Dayco tensioner looks identical to the original from Dodge, right down to the markings on it.5. The Dayco tensioner says "Made in the USA" on both the box and cast into the unit itself. The bottom line: The Dayco tensioner works perfectly, is OEM quality, but without the dealership markup.

97 Dodge Cummins 12v
Installed in less than 15 minutes. Originally purchased one from AutoZone 10 bucks more & sold as Duralast but was a Dayco. FYI the bolt is a 10-1.5x80 mm probably could go 90mm. AutoZone has it as a Help Item under an alternator bolt.

Awesome Non-Slip Tensioner!! (Read Review)
This Product is Proudly Made in the USA 🇺🇸!!!!Dayco makes many OEM parts for Dodge!! Solid Design just like the OEM Mopar Factory Original. Why pay more for a Mopar OEM when you can get this part much cheaper??Very pleased in solid quality and designed much better than Gates or AC Telco (which is manufactured by Gates)Will Highly Recommend this one indeed!!

... old Gates tensioner with the Dayco and it works great! No more squeaking
I replaced the old Gates tensioner with the Dayco and it works great! No more squeaking! The Gates tensioner had been squeaking for a while, and when I took it off, I found it had a small crack in the housing. This Dayco is made in America and the installation took about 10 minutes.

Great replacement part for my 24 valve Cummins
Excellent quality. It's been on my 2001 Ram Cummins for 8 months now and I couldn't be happier. Easy install, great product.

Dayco is the ONE!
Have a 93 Dodge W250, had a squeak every one full rotation of the S-belt and a real good chirp at shut down. Mechanic said he thought I needed a new A/C pump unit or maybe a water pump. Read up a bit on the Cummins forum and found a lot about the Gates vs the Dayco tensioner. Bought the Dayco and a Gator back S-belt and NO SQUEAKS! Runs quiet....for a diesel. ;-)
