Works for starting mushroom mycelium.
I used it for working with mushroom mycelium and it worked great for me. It was my first time ever using agar and it was easy and I was successful the first time.

It seems to work.
It is difficult to line up the device so that it locks into place with the filter. It would not take much to provide a red dot or something to help line up the device with the tiny hole.

Why would anyone buy this?
In my beginning days of mycology I thought I needed to buy things like this but then I learned that you can buy like a kilo of LMEA plus Agar Agar for basically the same price as this which is basically a shot glass worth of stuff. This is ripoff city. Please just buy regular MEA, agar agar, and active yeast. It’s literally that easy. 500ml distilled h2o, 10 g agar agar (the type they use for food). 7.5 g of MEA (type used for brewing beer), 0.25 g of dry active yeast. Mix, PC for 20 minutes, pour into Petri dish and you have perfect plates for rhizomorphic growth.

I bought this for some agar dishes. Used twice and didn't like it. Thought it didn't work well

Foreign material in powder
Powder contained at least 2 large pieces of foreign material (plastic tubing of some sort). I assume its from their manufacturing process. For the price, I expected better quality. You’re better off buying food quality agar powder (fraction of the price). It
