We used this on a set of train horns. We were able to sit in the stands of the football game and use the remote to the train horn in the parking lot. Easy to use and install.

It's the best long range remote i have ever had. Easy to install and easy to operate.

Bought in October. Broke in November. Worked great prior.

This switch is great, I tested it in the flatlands of FL and it reached 2.3 miles (12,144 feet or twice the promise). Clear line of site is best. If the signal is weak, sometimes it takes a few seconds to trip. I put the receiver at the 14th floor of a high rise and then roamed down the highway testing as I went. It would probably vary depending on the terrian, trees, and buildings.

I used this switch to build a remote control device for feral cat TNR (trap, neuter and return). While testing the prototype, I was astonished that it worked at long distances in my densely built neighborhood, through multiple houses. I have since made remotes for many cat rescuer friends who all say that this switch is totally dependable in any weather condition. I should mention that I don’t have any background in electronics but was easily able to hook this switch up to a 12v battery. I ordered several other switches to try out and was unable to get any of them to work.

Pluses: Controlling the front gate of a ranch in a rural setting is important when you have cows and horses. The house is 1000ft away and was controlled easily with this unit. More than 1000ft effectively as transmitter is used inside of house. It can be programmed for momentary (like a normal gate or garage door opener) and it remembers that setting, but its out-of-the-box setting is toggle on and off. You feed it 12+V to make it work. Minus: Would have given it 5 stars but the design is such that the control output negative(-) is always enabled with only the positive (+) output being controlled. For gate/garage door controllers that expect negative(-) to toggle as well, this will not work -- unless you did what I did and that is to install ANOTHER (cheap auto) 12v relay to this unit so I could get a true momentary ground (-) contact.

I own and run a small airsoft field in Northern Maine. Traditionally, I've used a tiny little gas-powered boat horn to start/stop games. While effective, I needed to be in a central location so all the players could hear it. It hasn't been a problem, but I felt I could find an easier way to do this. So, I came across a random video of a guy who put horns on an electric drill. I thought that was super cool, but the initial problem remained: I would have to still actuate the horn with my trigger finger. I needed to build this thing so I could introduce an RF relay into the system, which I did. I put the B0C22WDR89 horns on an ammo can, installed this relay, but kept the switch in the circuit so I can either fire off the horns remotely, or via the momentary button on the box itself. Not only does this setup work through over 1,200' of woods, but I can hear it. Over 1,000' it's rather faint, but definitely still audible. Then again, the horns were pointed straight up in the air during the test. I hope with the setup I describe below it'll be more audible at distance. Regardless, the proof of concept works. I will be adding 3 more horn sets on the top of a 10' piece of conduit, pointing 90° from each other. I will keep my little ammo can as the base unit to house this awesome little RF relay, and the morning of game day, I will take this monstrosity out to the field in the central location from where I tested it today, and I will have an absolutely amazing (and LOUD) game on/game over signal that I can trigger remotely as needed. "A" button is programmed for game on/game over - a five second blast. "B" button is programmed for a momentary blast.. like a 2-minute warning. I'm honestly pleasantly surprised this thing worked through as many trees as it did.

At first, it worked great...a month and a half later, not dependable!!!! I am using this with a 12v 12ah SLA battery (new) and the relay works "sometimes" . I have a safety switch and led on light...it will work (maybe) with the first a button push, then maybe , or not on the second push, 3rd, etc. I am using the external antenna, mounted on out side, have checked all the wire connections probably 5 times with a multi meter, and the only problem is with this unit.....not life threatening, but a real pain in the rear when you have to walk back and forth a couple times and maybe it works....or not!!! If any one knows of a much better unit, I don't care if it costs $100.00, please let me know. I'll buy it....rsbhunter
