I concur with 90% of the reviews posted here!!
When I first got these my coworkers wanted to look thru them and they were amazed by the superior optics this set has. Once I got to use them I could not agree more with their comments. The details that I can see with these binoculars are unparalleled for the price. I have had these for two months now. Will update "if" I find anything wrong, I really doubt it as this is quality made. update 4/26/15 Went to the beach a couple weeks ago and saw the whales breaching, A couple who saw the whales first looked thru them and were thoroughly impressed with the clarity of these binoculars.

Construction of exterior is good quality. The lenses well they are poor not very bright or clear. These should be in the 50.00-75.00 price range. I have a pair of 8x36 Nikon monarch that I purchased on sale for less than these. There is no comparison between them. The Nikon are so much brighter and clear. The Nikon 8x magnification appeared to bring objects just as close as the Alpen 10x magnification. If you can get the Nikons on sale you will have a much nicer binocular. I gave an extra star because Amazon was good about taking them back.

Good Price, A Couple of Drawbacks
I got these when they were on sale briefly for $99, which is a very good price for better quality binoculars. Overall, the vision is clear and crisp, and the range is good, but there are a couple of drawbacks - 1) they are surprisingly heavy, and holding them up for any length of time quickly gets uncomfortable, preventing the pleasure of lingering long-range viewing; 2) if you are a smaller person (I'm a woman, 5'4), you will not be able to bring the binoculars close enough together to get a seamless, single view; the site barrels touch, coming full-stop before achieving that last millimeter needed for perfect vision (I even removed the straps that kept eye caps attached, but still not quite close enough, and I can only think it's because they're made for a slightly bigger person). These minor irritations do detract from the pleasure of using, and I think I'll continue to search for a better pair - lighter and a better fit for my eyes. In the meantime, I'll keep these, and continue trying to make them work; the quality seems to be fairly reflected in the price.

I Know pretty much Nothing about Binoculars, but I Know I'm Glad I Bought These
I don't know a damn thing about binoculars so I looked at Amazon's reviews before buying these. They're great! They can see pretty far and pretty clearly, they adjust easily to your eyes or glasses, and come with a spiffy case. I've got nothing to really compare them to, but I like them and they served me well on my whale watching adventure. Well worth the purchase for a filthy casual such as myself.
