great resource for all
I've enjoyed adding this book to my resources library. Emma does a great job visualizing and explaining typical construction details. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a simpler, yet better representation of areas commonly found in residential construction

Poorly edited, a ton of repeat information
There are so many typos in this book, some so pervasive that it hinders comprehension. The cost of the book is high, probably in part due to so many full color printed pages. Could these have been reduced? Absolutely. There are 24 iterations of a tiny corner of a basement detailed, occupying two pages each. The differences between them are sometimes miniscule: a single insulation layer moved from this side to that.Still, it's a useful primer if you're going to jump into creating these details for yourself.

Excellent resource
I have not purchased the actual book, but have coordinated and utilized the details that are included in this book from prior purchase from the author. Excellent, resourceful material to add to anybody's library and/or process.

Where is the deep delve?
The description above reads, "We look at the principles behind construction detailing, and *delve deep into each area of the building to make sure you have a full understanding of construction design.*"I absolutely expected the detailed figures that's the "visual" portion of this guide. However, I also expected to "delve deep" into construction design. Maybe 10% of this book is text.If you need 10 written pages on wall assemblies and *108* pages of pure architectural figures of various wall assemblies, then this is the book for you. Maybe you're hoping to scan these figures and write an extensive article on a wall assembly discussing all of the detail missing from this book? There's a single paragraph on wall assembly flashing with the sage advice to contact a "metal specialist to avoid any issues" with eg galvanic corrosion. Similar issues with every section of this book.I honestly have no idea who this book is for. It's a great coffee table book or maybe if you're an architect who doesn't like to draw your own figures for clients. Otherwise? Save your hard-earned money.
