Street Of Dreams Shadow Of Love There'll Come A Day Sanctum Sanctorum Is It A Dream Grimly Fiendish Edward The Bear The Eighth Day Trojans Review: This is one of my all time favourite albums and like their next album "Anything" has not been available on CD for some time until recently. Sonically the album has always been pretty top notch, however the remaster has improved on it. In addition, the packaging is rather good too. My favourite track is "Sanctum Sanctorum" and it sounds absolutely amazing. Like a lot of remasters from Japan, instead of being in a jewel case, it comes in a sleeve resembling the original vinyl release which contains a replica of the inner sleeve too, a lyrics sheet in English and Japanese an most importantly the CD itself. To keep with the vinyl theme, the CD's label makes the disc resemble the special edition white vinyl release. The track list is exactly the same as my 1985 CD which is the album plus 2 extended remixes of the singles "Shadow Of Love" ("Ten Inches Of Hell Mix") and "Grimly Friendish" ("The Bad Trip Mix"). It's a pity that some of the remaining 30 minutes capacity couldn't have been used by the extended remix of the other single "Is It A Dream?" ("Wild West Express Mix") and the alternative remixes of "Shadow Of Love" ("The Pressure Mix") and Grimly Fiendish ("Spic 'n' Span Mix") that were available on the 12" singles. That aside I'm very happy with it. Highly recommended. A really great later Damned album. Albeit one that is 30 years old. The Damned are still a potent live force.

１９８５年発表のオリジナル６作目で、ヨーロッパ盤と同じく「Grimly Fiendish (The Bad Trip Mix)」と「Shadow of Love (Ten Inches of Hell Mix)」の２曲がボーナスとして収録されています。文句を言えば、２０年以上も経って今さら「＋２」と言わず、「＋４」とか「＋５」くらいしてくれよといったところです。 この時代は良くも悪くもメジャーな時代で、特にシングルカットのリミックスが異様に多いのですが、一部は「The MCA Singles」というアルバムで聞くことが出来るもののまだまだＣＤ化されていない音源が多く、今回の本邦初ＣＤ化と一緒に出てくるのを期待していたので残念です。 作曲の要だったキャプテン・センシブル（ギター）が脱退し、デイブ（ボーカル）とローマン（ギター）がメインとなったゴシック趣味で幻想的でメランコリックなロックは、賛否両論あったものの結果的には爆発的ヒットとなりました。ファンの間でも真っ二つに意見が割れたようです。私はもう「ダムドならなんでもいい」という感じのファンでしたので、本作も普通に受け入れることが出来ましたし、そういう感情を差し引いても、当時のライブで過去の名曲と違和感なく同居している本作の楽曲群を聞くと、大げさに言われている程彼らのそれまでから逸脱したものでもなかったと思っています。 文脈で言えば、この路線はこの後７作目の「Anything」及びデイブのソロ作品で追求され、キャプテンとの邂逅を果たしたダムドの９作目をミラクルなアルバムに仕上げた一つの遠因となっており、非常に感慨深いです。
