When my cat started to use my dining room chairs as scratching pads, I knew I needed to do something before she shredded the fabric. I bought this tape and put it in the side of the cushions and on the back edges of the chairs. She stopped her behavior. I don’t know why she started the behavior to begin with as she had scratch pads in every room and a pole but I’m happy the tape worked.

I used this the first time I needed to scratch-proof furniture and it worked fine. When it ran out I got a different one, but struggled to get the paper off, so I tried a 3rd brand the next time. It barely stuck to the furniture but was happy to stick to me if I was near, so I am now saying: This is the one to get. It adheres well even to textured fabric, is sticky enough to deter your cats but not you every time you're in the general area, and those are what you're after in anti-cat scratch tape. Tip: A YouTuber suggested that if you leave a bit of the backing tape hanging off when you cut the tape it's easy to start a new strip. Works great. Cat Tax: Miles denies ever considering scratching, even though I watched him try.

I’m giving this product 4 stars because it works really well overall, but there’s a small drawback. The tape is super easy to apply and cut to size, and it sticks firmly without damaging my furniture when removed. It’s sturdy, doesn’t have an overpowering smell, and has definitely helped protect my couch from my cat’s claws. Functionally, it’s doing its job — my cat has mostly stopped scratching the taped areas. The only reason for removing one star is that it can collect dust, lint, and fur pretty quickly, which makes it look less neat over time and can reduce its stickiness. Still, for furniture protection, it’s a solid purchase and worth having on hand if you’ve got a persistent scratcher.

I have been using anti cat scratch tape for a very long time, this works well since it gets in the hard to reach places or if you need a thinner strip on an arm of a chair or back of the chair without covering the entire thing in a big ol' sticky piece of cat scratch tape. It's easy to use, peel and place where you need it, the dogs and cats leave the places alone and it deters the cats from scratching where I don't want them to. I would recommend this, its a good quality tape for the money.

PROS: Definitely does what it is supposed to...my cat does not like the feel of it on her little paws and has stopped scratching all the spots where I've applied it. Also, you get alot of it for the price which is great. And it is genuinely clear, of you smooth it on so it's not a giant eyesore. CONS: It seems like it definitely will damage more delicate materials if you leave it on for long periods of time because it's SUPER sticky. Stickier than normal tape. I've had it on for a couple weeks and it's already leaving a bit of sticky residue when I peel a bit off my soft leather chair. I did two things to try and reduce the damage to my furniture: 1. I laid each piece against some fabric a few times before I stuck it down to reduce the sticky-ness. 2. for those instances when I needed to cover a large patch of furniture. I actually left the backing on the middle part of the tape so it is only stuck to my furniture at the edges. Seems to be working well so far. I'd recommend pulling off a bit every couple weeks and checking to see how it's affecting your materials. I could see this damaging velvet, micro-suede (and real suede of course), and I am definitely not going to put it on my butcherblock countertops to keep kitty from jumping up.
