So far the mesh has not spread apart and it's kept it's shape. And I have kids, so they haven't destroyed this one yet.

No, but it's a standard width. I have 40-year-old windows and the spline was fine.

How would this hold up if sewn into a backseat per partition? If reinforced correctly, could it handle being pushed against?

I'm not quite sure of your application but as a screen within a sliding exterior door, out two Maltese dogs stands on their rear legs & the mesh supports their upper body-weight okay. I would say the fixing or security fasteners, would be more of a problem that the mesh, but of course it depends upon the span being covered and the force of whatever, being applied.
