Really nice product
First of all, this company has excellent customer service. They are true to their word; I had my replacement literally 2 days after I initially contacted them.Okay so the product.. it's great. My dentist was happy with it, as I grind and clench terribly at night, and it has worn my teeth a bit. I was not able to get a result resembling anything that others have.. a perfect mold of their teeth that is so perfect it reminds me of my plastic orthodontic retainer. But it's okay. I was able to make a *decent* mold that doesnt look that great, but it's completely functional, and that's really all that matters. All of my teeth are covered and even though it is not tight fitting around my teeth, I was able to mold it so it does stay and fit in my mouth while I sleep, talk, etc. Some of the issues I had: I have super sensitive teeth mainly due to slight generalized recession and abfraction lesions (gum recession primarily on the premolars and first molars due to clenching, grinding, aggressive toothbrushing, etc.) so putting melting, scalding material in my mouth right after being in boiling water for 18 seconds was challenging. I had to actually blow on it and lick it first to cool it down. One attempt I decided to bite down while molding, not realizing how sharp some of my tooth cusps are, and I literally bit right through the molding :/ .. so I definitely would not recommend doing that unless your teeth are particularly blunt. I was also only able to mold the material for a few seconds after putting it in my mouth. Maybe 10-15 secs. It would begin to harden immediately.. so I'm not sure how the demo guy and everyone in their videos does it for so long! That probably has to do with me not being able to place it immediately in my mouth as I said before. So that's my problem. It does actually say on the box though, "product will be hot but it will not burn your mouth", but I do not think that applies to everyone. Me being an example. If you have any recession this will probably give you a similar problem. I was hoping for a result resembling my old plastic retainer so this could double as a top retainer, but since that didn't happen, I mainly only wear this on the bottom, as I wear my metal retainer on the top when I sleep at night. I did make a mold of my top arch just in case. I'm a small female with a relatively small mouth and teeth, but I found both sizes actually fit. The small size doesn't cover my 2nd molars, but if you push it back while molding, you can maneuver it to cover them. The small one would definitely NOT fit anyone who has all of their teeth including their wisdom teeth. You would definitely need the bigger one. The bigger one covered all of my teeth with excess material, so if you still have your wisdom teeth along with the others, you'll probably find that one fits better. I have a mold using the bigger one and a mold using the smaller one, and I honestly can't decide which one I like better, so I use them both.* there most definitely is a learning curve here. This was my first attempt ever molding anything in my mouth… So someone with more experience may get completely different and/or stellar results. The first box was a complete disaster, but all the molds I made using the second box are all functional. They may look kind of silly, but I don't really care. I would rather protect my smile, which is why I gave this product five stars. I am sure they would send me another box if I told them I still did not get perfect results, but I am satisfied with what I have. My teeth are protected and that is all that matters. In the words of my dentist… "[a mouthguard] for $20, you can't go wrong" 🙂

It used to be good. Now, newly awful!
First, let me say I have loved these mouth guards for the past 5+ years. Amazon says I've purchased these 5 separate times. They were great, relatively simple to make, lasted a while, comfortable, and cheaper. I recommended them to many. HOWEVER, I bought some where the package said "new" on it, and I could definitely tell this was a new design. The mouth guards were huge compared to the old ones so I had to trim them down (before the large fit perfectly), and when I went to put one in hot water, I could immediately tell these were not the same as before. They didn't curl in the same nice way, and whatever touched them, like my 100% silicone spatula (the same spatula I used to create all the other mouthguards I've had over the years), my fingers, stuck to the material terribly, and I had an awful time peeling it off. When I did, it left a residue I had to scrape off with my fingernail. It also stuck yo itself and couldn't be peeled apart. I thought, "OK fine, there are 4 in a package, I'll just re-read the directions and try again. Maybe I lost my touch." Nope! I got the second one in my mouth haphazardly, but it was already brittle and unshapable. I put that back in the hot water and tried again with the same issue. The 3rd was worse. I give up and I want my money back. Unfortunately for me, I tried these outside the return window because I trusted that the product would be the same, and I bought 2 boxes because I liked the product so much and wanted to make sure I didn't run out. Man, do I regret now forgetting to take out my mouth guard before vomiting into the toilet when I had a stomach bug recently. RIP my last good-quality Dental Duty mouth guard.

Difficult process to shape guards...
My dentist-made mouth guard broke in half after 10 years and I needed something right away to protect my veneers for when I grind my teeth at night. I saw the reviews for Dental Duty and decided to try it. Honestly, I couldn't tell which guards were the large and which were the small...and there wasn't anything in the instructions that said which was for bottom and which was for the top teeth. I kind of tried to base it on which one was most comfortable under my upper lip. I watched the DVD...which was recommended...and it cracked me up because during the whole instruction process, you only saw the guy's back. So I was still totally clueless when I tried the process. The first two mouth guards are a complete wash...it says in the instructions you can use a metal spoon as long as you keep it in ice water, but the mouth guard STILL stuck to it and I ended up having a giant blob of plastic on the side of my mouth. And don't believe the instructions when it says that although the mouth guard will be hot, it won't be hot enough to burn your mouth. My lips and gums are still sore lol. So the third try was finally a success but I still have to try it out tonight to see if it stays in while I sleep...it feels a little loose in the back. All I can say is...thank God this came with 4 guards!
