great dry food to supplement a wet food diet
I mostly feed my cats wet food. But I do supplement with a little kibble to make sure they hit their daily calorie target. I'm not a fan of carb-heavy fillers or plant-based proteins in either their wet or dry food, as cats are obligate carnivores. They literally developed to eat meat in the form of small prey. So I look for options that are high in protein and made without useless fillers. This is the highest-protein kibble I can find. No high-carb fillers. No peas/beans/lentils. Just animal-based protein. I spoil my kitties - to me, it's worth the cost. (I also figure keeping them healthy is cheaper than vet visits to fix whatever goes wrong down the line!) It makes a great topper sprinkled over their wet food. And a handful of these dropped into a food puzzle is great motivation for my cats to think their way through and solve the puzzle. My kitties really enjoy this kibble in all the flavors we've tried so far. The turkey appeals to them just as much as the duck and chicken flavors we've previously bought. We go through it pretty slowly because it isn't a main food for them, but it seems to stay fresh in the bag as long as we need it to. Overall, I can't think of a single complaint about this cat kibble, except the price. But what isn't expensive now?? For me, it's worth it.

My picky diabetic cat LOVES it!
My diabetic kitty LOVES this food. I was previously feeding the super expensive prescription DM dry food from Purina. I compared it to this one and I’m happy about the low carbs, quality protein, and size of the kibble. The kibble is smaller than what you see with Purina sensitive skin and stomach line (which I feed my other kitty and used to previously feed my diabetic one) - so it’s easier for cats to eat and chew. My girl is picky about food and I haven’t seen her get so excited for meal time in a while! Even her favorite wet foods don’t get this reaction out of her. With this cat food she eats more of her meals and sometimes even finishes them. I worry about her weight and picky eating since she’s only 5.5lbs as an adult cat and has been this way since I rescued her. I’m hoping this will keep enticing her and help her gain some weight. I tried the smaller bag before purchasing the 6.6lb bag as it’s a pretty hefty price, but I think it’s worth it for the ingredients and how much my girl loves it. My other girl has tried it and loves it just as much!

Worth a try, good ingredients
Small size similar to other cat kibble. My cat eats it, so I'm happy. She does not gobble it or eat all of it so feed in smaller quantities because they are protein concentrated.(my opinion)

She likes it
Good ingredients and cat seems to enjoy. (At least for now) Added to the "rotation"

Protein for Johnny Cake!
My eldest is getting finicky in his old age. With multiple health issues, I have to keep him eating. Right now, this is his favorite. We've done every flavor of Dr. Elsey's kibble and fortunately, when he tires of one, my two younger cats make sure the leftovers are eaten. Palatable, high protein grain free food is what I look for and this one works for us.

Makes my diabetic cat's blood glucose spike
I REALLY REALLY wanted this to work. I did the math and I think it had about 8% carbs- which was just a tiny bit more than the Fancy Feast paté classics I've been giving my fur baby. Ever since I've been giving him this kibble, his numbers have been reading HI on his glucose monitor. He loves the kibble and I feel so bad because I can't let him have it. I was hoping perhaps it was a fluke and I've been watching him for over a week on this stuff. When I restrict it for over half the day, his BG goes back down to reasonable ranges. I am putting my foot down now. He was HI this morning, got 4u of Semglee. Then 4 hours later he is still reading HI on the machine and all he has eaten is the kibble. But his BG has gotten progressively worse on the kibble. Again, he LOVES it. My other cats LOVE it. It just isn't good for a diabetic cat. For what it is worth- my diabetic cat was classified as a type 1 diabetic- not the type 2 that is overweight needing to lose weight. I don't know if that matters, but I am including that info. It may help other diabetic babies, I'm just saying it isn't right for mine.

Great low carb kibble. Cat loves it
This was recommended for my newly diabetic cat. I was worried he wouldn't like it because he's so picky, but he loves it! The kibbles are dense and it has a strong aroma unlike some "diet" foods. Glad I found this.
