Great hub for all of our devices - great price - great compatibility
Purchased this to replace our Samsung SmartThings Hub V2. I wanted a better solution for devices that use Matter since the V2 doesn't really provide the correct solution for this. The Aeotec Hub 2 (v4) does not support Z-Wave but in our home that is ok since none of our devices use Z-Wave anymore. Installation was incredibly easy. You just plug it in and in your SmartThings app just choose replace hub and it does it all for you in just a matter of minutes! First time I tried to replace it, I was impatient and didn't let the hub do all of its updates or something and the next day it dropped over half of our devices. The solution was to either manually reset each device or to transfer back to the old hub - so we moved it all back to the old hub and waited several hours for the Aeotec to do all of its updates first before transferring. Second time with patience was a charm. The Aeotec Hub2 is considerably faster than the older hub!

Painless replacement of failing Samsung Hub
My Samsung Smartthings Station started disconnecting on a frequent basis and I ordered the Hub2-V4 as a replacement. Didn't need z-wave and this unit is 4 years newer than Aeotecs other hub w/zwave. Figured the ethernet connection on this hub would prove more robust and time will tell. What I can tell today is the hub replacement routine was absolutely flawless and after connecting the new hub, upgrading the firmware , I was able to use the android Smartthings app to move all 63 of my zigbee and matter devices plus the routines to this new hub. Response to commands and routines seems 2 times faster. Hub was compatible with Thirdreality, Hue bulbs, Aquara Matter bridge and generic zigbee 3 devices in my system.

Works well!
On boarding is easy and works pretty well with SmartThings app. It is a must have for Matter smart home devices

This is the worst hub
This is awful if you had another hub, smartthings and others. It's connectivity is so flakey that it feels like it's a 2000 bug

Range and Reliability a worthy trade for no z-wave
I'm giving this five stars despite the lack of z-wave support. It's disappointing that z-wave is going away but I'm thinking this has been coming for years. I don't remember when I first read about it, but I know I've been looking specifically for zigbee for quite sometime. (Somebody start making zigbee outdoor plugs, please!) ANYWAY, I'm still giving it five stars for addressing two of the improvements I've been hoping for; more local processing and greater range. I've got several porch lights in ancient fixtures that never worked reliably, but now they do! It's worth the cost of replacing a z-wave door lock with a zigbee one in order to have everything work consistently. Local processing adds to the reliability; not just for when the internet is down, but also seems to improve everyday speed. Oh, and one more improvement on the software side (that probably predates this unit or is a parallel development); multiple hubs can now form a mesh to further improve range and reliability. I am currently set up to use a previous hub as part of the new hub's mesh network, but I'm so impressed with the latest V4 model, I've ordered a second one for the far side of the house and am committed to abandoning z-wave altogether.

0 Stars V4 without Z-Wave, 5 Stars V3 with Z-Wave
0 Stars V4 without Z-Wave, 5 Stars V3 with Z-Wave Z-Wave is the premier method for connecting remote devices. It operates in the sub 1 Gigahertz spectrum, not the ultra crowded 2.2 GHz like other systems use. Z-Wave has at least twice the range of other standards. Each device is also a repeater, creating a rock, solid, reliable mesh network. I recently purchased an industrial quality shut off valve for my house. It is available in Z-Wave only. Right here on Amazon they sell over 100 Z-Wave devices, the V4 can control NONE of them. I highly recommend the version 3. I found it easy to set up, and very reliable with Z-Wave AND other devices.
