Hamilton Beach Open Ease Automatic Jar Opener, Model 76800

There is a certain product in a jar which we occasionally like to use. It seems that the lid and the glass are molecularly bonded together permanently, never to be separated from each other. There were a couple of occasions where separation took place in the wrong spot. After some tricky attempts to loosen things up by hammering and otherwise abusing the lid, the glass portion of the whole affair decided to give in, instead. Nasty! Half the contents of the jar spilled on the countertop; the other half took a trip to the kitchen floor. This is highly disgusting, don't you know. Upon recommendation by someone we know, I decided to obtain this product. A fresh jar was already on stand-by while awaiting the arrival of the Hamilton Beach miracle tool. The day came. It arrived. Right away, I was very skeptical. There were a couple AA carbon type batteries and some inadequate instruction sheet. I figured it out and put this contraption to a smoke test. It noisily started the whole exercise. It whirred and hummed. The initially high-pitched symphony went lower and lower approaching upper bass note. Then the melody turned into a low hum and quit. So much for that. But then, all of a sudden, there was this highly welcome popping noise. Glory Be! The lid popped open. I pushed the 'Release Lid' button, and then we enjoyed the meal. Since then, this wonder tool opened three more jars with utter ease. I highly recommend this tool. It may take you bit time to figure it out. But it does not require a Masters Degree in rocket science to do so. You do not have to contact Albert Einstein to be able to use it.

Holy crap where has this been all my life? I was very skeptical of this little jar opener thinking can it really work? I tried other products that were manual but to no avail. Somewhere between the arthritis and the jars that are ridiculously difficult to open I was getting very frustrated. When you are ready to throw the jar out the window, you know it's time to try a different solution. I had been looking at this for six months hemming and hawing on if I thought it would work. I finally bought it and IT WORKED! We had a stubborn jar of jam that we just couldn't get open. Popped this baby on it and WAMO it is OPEN! I admit to doing a victory happy dance at how well this worked. I love this little gadget. I would definitely recommend it. I could not be more pleased. A word of advice - do read the instructions. It has a specific way it works. It's super easy but it helps if you read the instructions first. 4/17/20 UPDATE! This worked for a while. We opened several jars with it and it was amazing. Then it came across a jar that may have been a little harder to open or the gears had just worn a little by then and something in it broke. Now the motor runs, but the parts don't move to try and open anything. Everything in it is spinning but nothing is actually moving or working. Very sad. So less than a dozen jars opened before this had to go in the trash. Very disappointed. It stopped working a year ago and I keep picking it up and fiddling with it trying to get it working again to no avail. Today I gave up and trashed it. So sad.

This is one of the few "just buy it right now" products. For those with elderly in their lives that have diminishing hand strength, this is an invaluable product to help with them maintaining their independence. AND... it works. It really does. I bought this product for my mother who has Rheumatoid Arthritis and is having more and more difficulty opening jars. She has been so overjoyed with this product that I would love to give the engineers a huge bear hug of appreciation. The Jar Opener has 2 buttons on top, "open jar" and "release lid". The key to ensure the device is in its proper start stage, which is the arms are out and the lid gripper is aligned to the Jar Opener body. At that point, position this on top of a jar and press the "open jar" button. The arms will clamp down on the jar, the lid opener will shrink and grip the lid and then start turning and trying to pop open the lid. IT WORKS. Then press the "release lid" button and let the arms fully retract. That's it... that's how you leave it until you need it again. I tried this on some old, tough jars and it worked great opening most jars. One time it didn't, so I tried again and it worked the second time. For the price (~10), there is nothing out there that comes close to this product. Be kind to someone in your life that needs a helping hand... this product will bring them joy.

Hard to dislike this amazing tool which never fails and so simple yet so smart in its operation.

Absolutely brilliant product - where was this 4 years ago? For years I have struggled to open the tight lids of some of my favourite condiments, trying all kinds of methods with various degrees of success. My difficulties were exacerbated around 4 years ago when I started suffering from arthritis in my thumbs, causing me at times to become really frustrated with the jar lids. Thankfully my difficulties are over, as this product really does what it says on the tin. I recommend this wholeheartedly for anyone who's ever struggled to open a jar lid.

C'est vraiment un produit qui m'a rendu ma liberté au niveau de l'ouverture des boîtes de toutes sortes. Je suis en attente d'une intervention du canal carpien donc idéal.

Fonctionne très très bien. Je l'ai essayé sur plusieurs pots et je suis très satisfaite. Facile à utiliser. J'en ai acheté un autre pour mon amie qui a de gros problèmes avec ses mains, ce fut merveilleux, elle peut maintenant ouvrir tous ses bocaux et même bouteilles de vin avec bouchon qui visse, je le conseille à tous et ça vient avec les batteries déjà installées.
