LLPT Butyl Seal Putty Tape White

I usually buy a mastic based sealant to seal my Motorhome roof windows, after a recommendation from a friend I looked at the Butyl strips as an alternative, the other 'Named' brands were a 5 meter roll for roughly the same cost as this item but this one has 10 meters on the roll so better value straight away. Still a bit sceptical, I installed the tape on the roof and Ohh my word, it sticks, I mean, it really sticks, when you use this you only get one chance to get it right, so be precise and certain you have everything lined up correctly. The window has been fitted and it has sealed perfectly, there was heavy rain that evening and there were no leaks at all. Highly recommend this tape and I certainly won't be going back to the mastics.

Good stuff, did the job. Worth knowing that if using in any kind of situation where it is squeezed under tension and left over time (I used it for mounting boat rubbing strakes) that it will continue to squeeze out in areas, particularly in hot weather.

I put this in the fridge overnight before using it, as I've heard that butyl can go gooey in the heat. This is the first time I've used the stuff - similar to double-side tape, it was very easy to apply and gave an instant grab (you only really get one opportunity to stick it, so be ready and be accurate). I used it for sticking the edges of an EPDM rubber roof membrane to OSB board and it worked a treat. I simply unrolled the tape straight from the roll onto the OSB, then tore/snapped it off when I'd applied enough. I then removed the backing tape and pulled the EPDM on to the exposed butyl. Very simple really - not rocket science by any means and anybody with common sense and reasonable coordination should have no problem using it.

Used to reseal the aluminium window frames to our GRP boat. Worked very well and now we don't have any leaks! Be careful not to let the putty contact anything else in the process as once it sticks to something else, it ends in a big mess!!! Also when dropping the frames back in, you only really get one chance - so make sure its aligned exactly. A big advantage is once the window frame is back in place, its water tight - no need to wait for it to cure like other sealants.

Used this to repair a inner door lining on my car which wasn’t stuck down properly allowing a little water leak, easy to apply and stuck the lining down very well so fingers crossed no more leak.
