Perfect thickness
I bought this to wear under a thicker, polyester balaclava so I have a natural fiber against my skin. Alone, it doesn't do much to mitigate wind. However, even in 20°F chill, it keeps my face warm without holding in any moisture from my breath. If there's a wind, I use a fleece lined polyester over this and I'm well protected from cold without the bulk of a thick balaclava obstucting my vision. This is the least expensive 100% merino wool balaclava I've found and it does exactly what I expect. The fit is good and not tight, won't smash your nose. The sewing is well done and the seams are comfortable.

Hiqh Quality But Needs to Come in 2 Sizes
High quality, has kept me warm on several ski trips already. My only complaint is that it is one size only ( that's why only 4 Stars ). Need to make 2 sizes, SM-M and L-XL. Washed up well, and overall very happy with my purchase

If you already have a neck gaiter, it is thicker!!!
Good quality but very loose fitting. Also I wear the gaiter more. I think that I got caught up in the wool hype! Gaiter is 250g/m² balaclava is only 125g/m²!

Comfortable and warm
I bought this to wear at night for cold weather camping, and it works great. Very warm and not itchy at all.

Very disappointed!
The gloves arrived, perfect for our trip to Antarctica, unfortunately, they had holes in the woolwhere the thumb and pointer finger meet. Very disappointed, I looked at the reviews and there were several others that had the exact problem. Either it is a quality control at the manufacturer or they keep reselling defective ones. I bought them as it was an American company.

Yea wool.
Works very well. Wool has always been better than blends in keeping warm.

Warm and Dry
I wore this balaclava for a long weekend in the woods, and it held up well. The shape held (with minor stretching), and the material dried quickly once I removed it from my face. I find that 100% Merino wool is the best for anything that you wear around your face/mouth, mostly because the smell doesn't hang around like with other materials.
