Interesting "multi-purpose" vac
Interesting little multi-purpose vac. Hose is smaller in diameter than I expected, it is about the size of a normal home vacuum cleaner rather than the larger diameter shop vac hoses I am used to. Has plenty of suction and the variable speed control works well. The tool activation is quite limited as others have pointed out, because of the fact that only 15 amps can be drawn from a normal power outlet and some of this must be used to power the vacuum leaving very little to run the actual tool. I found that the vac draws 10 amps on full power and 6 when turned all the way down. So you could power about a 5-9 amp tool off the vacuum's power outlet depending on what speed you are running the vacuum at. In my mind, a better design would have been to place a male power pigtail on the vac that a separate extension cord could be attached to. This way the vacuum could be plugged into one outlet, and the power tool could be plugged into a different outlet while still controlling the vac. The other issue this would resolve is the power cord, which is super heavy duty (and kinda short) because it has to handle the full 15 amps rather than just the 10 drawn by the vacuum. If they used a separate cord to power the tool, the vacuum's power cord could be more conveniently sized. Anyways.... it is a good vacuum for doing very dirty house cleanup jobs and moderately dirty shop jobs. It isn't a real jobsite vac like a Rigid but it isn't meant to be. It's more civilized. It does have a cool tight refined-sounding howl to it, and is a bit quieter than other shop vacs I have used. At first I thought the 5-wheels were gimicky but the extra wheel really does seem to make it more stable when tugging on the hose to make the vac follow you. I really like that the big handle stays attached to the bucket when the motor is removed so you have a good way to carry the bucket when emptying it. The self-clean filter feature works well enough to blow big solid mats of cat hair backward off the filter and into the bucket. All in all its a neat vac that works great for rough-in cleaning of the house, while also being able to take on dirtier jobs when necessary. The bags are cool too as they are fabric rather than paper. Eventually I want to do as others have done and install zippers in them to make them easier to re-use. They cost about $4 per bag (they are sold in a 4-pack). All in all, its a good vac as long as you understand the limitations of the tool activation feature. And you cant vacuum up large debris because of the small hose size. It's a niche product but it fills its niche really nicely in my opinion.

Great Vacuum
So I purchased this vacuum when it went on sale and got a really good deal. I use it for some of my sanders and my Festool Domino. The suction is great and the added power outlet to power smaller tools is great as well. The added filter really traps the finer particles. The only drawback is it uses a propritary hose connection for the end of the hose that plugs into the vac itself. This makes it difficult to use a Festool or Bosch hose. However, if you purchase a 2 1/4 to 1 1/4 reducer, you can connect the Karcher hose to the Bosch hose then connect to your tool. The reducer is only like 6 bucks so if you already have the hose, you're in business.

quet, powerfull, and lots of features.
I have only had it for a little under a week but I am very happy. I know i paid a premium over a craftsman, but those are loud and fall over all the time. SO far, after cleaning my 1000 square foot shop, it has not fallen over once. Runs quiet with adjustable speed. SO far I am very happy.

works very well, easy to move, not too loud, dual function head on a sturdy tube. reccomended.
Nicely made and works well. (first one I bought had a split in the body and Amazon replaced it quickly) I bought this with the optional (pretty much necessary) extras. I have a Dyson that does most cleaning well.. but on a whim I bought a ridiculous area rug that has a 2 to 3 inch pile and nothing happens when I try to clean it using the Dyson. The Karcher worked very well. Hopefully I will not need the water function.. although I am sure it would do the job. I Like the filter cleaning mechanism. Well engineered Germany ! The price of the vacuum bags not so much.. on a Dyson it's free after all. One point England.

Good vac - only 6 amp tool activation though.
Given the low cost compared to other tool activated vacs, it's a deal. And it's fairly quiet, easy to change the filter and bag, and can self-clean the filter, which is pretty cool. However, I did get it (actually two of them) for use in my shop with tools, and I blew one out because I had it hooked up to my miter saw. I missed the fact that it's rated for 6 amps only on the tool activation. My Dewalt dual bevel 12" miter saw draws just a bit more than that when being challenged. I actually had been using it for a month that way, but cutting through the 2" hard maple put more of a draw on the saw. I do use it with my orbital sander and other power hand tools without a problem, and most of the time, I'm not drawing huge power through the miter saw, so it was fine initially. Unfortunately, there is not a replaceable fuse. That would be my suggestion (aside from a more robust rating). So, with the integrated fuse blown, the vac still works like a normal vac, but plugging anything into the tool activated plug will start the vac, whether the tool is on or not. So, the vac still works as a vac, and I can manually turn it on and off, but the tool activation function doesn't do anything. Replacing a fuse would be much easier than replacing the vac. Even replacing just the small circuit board wouldn't be too bad. Now, that said, Karcher is apparently going to replace the unit. EDIT: Followup - Karcher did replace the whole unit for free, including shipping. So, their customer service is great, and I really do like the product. It just can't be used with larger power tools that draw more than 6 amp.

Suction power
Best vacuum to clean a large SUV (Suburban). It removes all the dog hair, crumbs, and mess easily. Same with rugs around the house. There's nothing like a corded vacuum to get plenty of power to get it done.

Like: Lots of power, easy to manouver, easy to access to filters, quiet for a shop vac (our Dyson vacuum that we use for regular cleaning is noisier), good price point compared to others with less features, generic filter bags from Amazon work great with it. Dislike: the most disappointing thing with this vac for me is cord storage and cord length. It's oddly low tech compared to the rest of the kit. I predominantly use the vacuum in my basement or garage and more often than not I need an extension cord. I also wish the the storage position for the cord wasn't just looped over a projection.
