Review: Step by step to learning to use a sewing machine and really fun projects for young ones learning to sew. Review: I ordered this book for my 10 year old who has just bought himself a mini sewing machine. It really is a fantastic introduction to machine sewing. I'm a total non-sewer, but have been learning in order to to support my son with his hobby, and I will definitely be working on some of the little projects in this book. There's a wallet at the back where all the patterns are stored. And they're proper patterns - no photocopying - just cut out and use. There's plenty of space for other patterns too. The spiral binding means that the book can be laid flat with ease, leaving one less thing for new sewers to be frustrated about. The projects are all useful accessories or toys, such as a drawstring bag, iPad case, sewing machine cover, hanging pocket storage. The best thing about this book is that all the images and finished projects are made by children. It's not a book entirely created by adults and merely aimed at children. The projects aren't polished or perfect - they are made by children who look very proud of their work. It's really helpful to have realistic images in such a book, because it can be so disheartening for a child to see that their finished project isn't like the one in the book. Highly recommended. My son can't wait to get started

I bought this book for my daughter after she had received her first sewing machine. We had purchased Sewing School (book 1) and she absolutely loved the projects that it included and wanted more to do that were more specific to the sewing machine (the first book also has hand sewn projects). This book is phenomenal when it comes to explaining the steps involved in a project and clearly articulates what needs to be done in each step. In the back of the book you will find pattern pieces which makes theses projects possible. The best part of this book is that it's spiral bound so it lays flat while your child is using it and that nearly all of the projects appealed to my daughter.

I was very pleasantly surprised. There is an envelope on the back cover w large heavy paper patterns fo most of not all projects so they can be easily reused. The graphics were bold and easy to understand as were the directions. Our 7 yr old sat right down to study it and was very excited to try some of the projects shown. The projects are also simple and great for first time Sewing machine users plus are items a child will use snd can be proud of. Each project could easily be complete within a hour or two which is also nice and won’t lead to frustration yet it teaches kids how to think ahead on sewing projects yo understand adding layers when adding embellishments, etc… very happy with it! Thanks

I bought this book because of the good reviews and I am not disappointed. Beautifully illustrated and well written, perfect for my 9-year-old Granddaughter who is showing an inclination towards crafts and sewing.
