I do not often write reviews, but the YoLink sensors have been a great addition. Today, 12/3/2023, I was out and about. I received a notification on my phone that a leak was detected in the crawlspace. When I got home and went into the crawlspace I found water in the reported location (I use a naming convention so I know the type and location of the sensors). The leak was a slow drip and the water had pooled. Once the "tail" of the S2 sensor was wet I received the alert. This was a very slow leak and it took some time for the water to build up to touch the "tail". Sometimes it is hard to get the tail to lay perfectly flat. I try to place them in lower areas too. Perhaps if a simple change like rolling the "tail" sensor vs folding them would help, but I really can't complain. They are easy enough to straighten out. I mean how many times to do go into the crawlspace in a give year. A handful? So these play an important role in being proactive. I have looked at other sensors that are cheaper, but I do like the ecosystem and they are very reliable. I have water sensors (S1's and S2's) at key points in the crawlspace to detect this very thing. The battery life is amazing. They have been deployed for over a year and they still report having full batteries. It would have take a long time for us to know that we had a slow leak. That is if we found it in the first place. Like I said before we do not often go into the crawlspace or attic. So for what is worth these add value. I do wish they were priced a bit lower though. In my case I have Yo-Link sensors in the following areas: 1) S1 - Crawlspace 2) S2 - Crawlspace 3) Motion Sensor - Mailbox 4) Temp and Humidity - Crawlspace (to help monitor the duhimidifier) and Attic 5) Outdoor Power Outlet - This allows for the remote control of the pump in the water feature (schedule control). Last year the water froze and part of the feature broke and had to be replaced. So I got this and am able to change the schedule when it is going to freeze. On the second plug I put an aquarium water heater stick that I can turn on to help keeping the water to freeze. The combination was way cheaper than other options. 6) Vibration Sensor (available on the YoLink site) - I am going to buy one of these to put on the dehumidifier in the crawlspace. We had an error that we did not notice for about two weeks. This can trigger an alert in the absence of any vibration. I am going to give this a shot too once I save some money.

I have found YoLink products to be reliable, cost effective and intuitive to use as well as having powerful customizable features. In the few cases where I have needed help for more complex settings, the customer service line answers quickly and is very competent in explaining the solution. YoLink is that rare company that has great products with great customer service. When I had a problem with a hub going offline, YoLink sent me a replacement upgraded hub immediately. I have recommended YoLink for water and temperature/humidity alarms for my Florida and Minnesota condominium associations.

This sensor, that can work by itself or also works along with the YoLink suite of sensors is unique in that it uses a cloth like braided material surrounding a long sensor element that when the second it gets wet sounds an audible alarm and if you have it configured with their app it will send you text and / or email alerts every 5 minutes or so. You can place it around the bottom of a water heater or sink cabinet or A/C pan to cover a larger area so a leak can be detected as early as possible. If you need to cover a larger area you can link more sensor cables together, although I have not tried this or have not seen where you buy extra lengths of sensor cable. Of course, I did test the sensor and it reacts to even a drop of water and once the sensor cable gets wet is will alarm for quite a while even if you have tried to dry it with a towel. So I thought since this was just a test that I would just unplug the sensor cable and wait for it to dry out,,,, at which point, it started sending me texts every five minutes that the sensor cable was unplugged. Now while annoying, I thought that was pretty genius on the designers part since you would really like to know if the sensor had become unplugged (Think, for example, if you had moved some items underneath a sink and it pulled it out), well the sensor would no longer be viable but you wouldn't know until the water was running across the floor. Not with this little device as it will send you a notification. I have only had the system in place for two months (they also have other sensors available) and the battery levels are all still indicating full so I have not seen how well that feature works as it is supposed to track the battery level of the sensors. ( not sure if it sends an alert about low battery level) All in all, this is a slick set of sensors and while the app is a little bit clunky to get everything named and organized, once it is setup it is transparent. I hope this company can stay around to help support their product and possibly add other sensors to their repertoire.

So far it’s working great. Easy set up and does detect any water, even a small amount. It works with your cell phone and gives you alerts.

It detects a leak, great! You clean up the leak, then, when you are most concerned about a repeat leak, set this product aside and let it dry for a few hours! NOT! Others say the cable takes so long to dry (even a hair dryer does not help much) they have a spare cable or have (at increased cost) bought a cable from another companies' water sensor. I took a star off for design of cable.

Worked great notified me when there was leak

I purchased the corded water sensor to put under my dishwasher. I found through other reviews you can use a splitter to run another cord in a different direction. I bought the 10 foot cord to go with this. I also used a 6 foot momo audio extension cable. So, I have the extension cable running from the sensor under my kitchen cabinets to get to my dishwasher, the attached the 10 foot cord to that. I have that cord routed in circles and back and forth so I have full coverage under the dishwasher. From the other port in the splitter the 4 foot cord goes around my supply pipes under the kitchen sink. I've tested this by using a wet napkin, anywhere I touch the cable sets off the alarm. The cord seems to be a cloth mesh of some type, but once it's set, you have to dry it, I used a hair dryer and that worked well. One thing to note the picture shows a cord with dual connector. I recieved mono connetors. So any extension or splitter has to be mono. I tested using dual or stereo cable and splitters. They just dont work. It's a mono system. Also, if the siren is enabled on your hub, it sounds like the red alert on the original star trek. That will jolt you out of bed if it goes off at night. Also, Customer Service said it was OK to tack the cord to the floor with electric tape so it won't move, or help it lie flat. They were very helpful.

I already have the hub and senor kit, and I very happy with it. So when this one became available, I bought two as I need additional sensors and I am curious to see how they perform against the first gen. There are two major design changes with a new feature: - Easy battery replacement, so it's not longer water proof. You need to mount it high and use the probe for sensing the water - Built-in siren - Water leak or water exhausted monitor. The entire of the cable can sense the water, not just at the tip, so you can lay it down on the floor and wrap around the pipe to cover more area. However, from my testing, it requires a bit more water for passing through the cable sleeve. The cable is long but it's a bit stiff so it doesn't lay totally flat on the floor. Another annoying thing is that once you wet the cable for testing, you will have to unplug and wait for it to dry before it can be on the commission; I even used the hair dryer but it did not help much lol. The built-in siren is nice but I already have the dedicate siren linked with the hub. I didn't test or use the water exhausted monitoring function. Based in my observation, you will not get the notification fast enough because the cable needs to be dried completely. Update 1/29/2021 Looks like they released another cord just for water level detection and it doesn't have the issue with slow drying.
