bought this clip to put a mike arm on my desk, easy to install and so far so good, however there is a weight limit to what you put in...

Not able to cope with the standard size lamp I tried to use it with. Useless. Kept on falling over. Plastic not a suitable material for this application.

Bought to use with a microphone boom arm. While the clamp holds well to my desk, it cannot realistically support the weight of the boom - the upper part is plastic, and it leans and bends and looks like it's about to snap. It's a real shame, as I like the fact that the fixings don't have sharp metal parts that can damage my wooden desk, as most other clamps appear to have. I'm sure it's fine for something much lighter though.

It does what it says, but only use it on things you don't want to reposition. It'll spring off due to even a slight bit of stress sending what's on your table smashing onto the floor, including whatever kit your using the clamp on. It's fiddly as hell to do up.

It was a tiny bit too tight and I had to file it to make it fit. Otherwise dies the job

Absolutely no grip whatsoever. It slips all over the place unless you screw it down, so it might as well just be a screw-in mount instead of a clamp. When tightening, it never really gets hard to turn the screw to the point where it doesn't go any further, so it feels like I'm just slowly breaking something.

I purchased this to replace the previous desk mount for my mic arm, but no matter what i do it falls off and will not stay clamped to the desk.

If you plan on using a microphone arm with this or anything that moves the clip will not hold. As you tighten the base the top pops up meaning it can only be tightened a small amount meaning it'll pull off with little force. Also the bar that inserts into the top part of the clamp is held only by friction and will slide out too. Overall useless product. Solid plastic but can not be secured unless you possible use the holes in the plastic to drill it into a solid surface.

I got this item because I was looking for a replacement microphone boom stand holder that would clamp to my desk and have a wider base than most of the clamps I see. This clamp for one isn't made of "aluminium alloy" like advertised, but instead plastic - maybe the threaded rod part is aluminium, but that's the case for every clamp. Secondly the hole in the top was slightly too small (like within 1-2mm) for the pin of my standard microphone boom arm - so I had to drill it out a bit. Even so the boom arm doesn't sit as deep as it would ideally. I ended up screwing the mount to a piece of wood before clamping it to my desk for stability, mostly to avoid damaging the desk, which seems to work okay for now. I'll be interested to see how long it lasts before it develops stress cracks.
