I don't think this is x96 zoom
Like another reviewer mention, i don't believe this is 96 time zoom. It feels similar to the x25. I just installed one of these for a client today. I've installed numerous x25 Sunba. Great zoom but i wouldn't recommend simply because its not that much better than the x25.

Not 96X zoom
In Mike P's one star review "noisy, not for residential use" he writes: "The not-so-good things, about the camera outweigh the good stuff. One of the first things, you will notice is how loud the camera is as it pans from location to location. You won't want this attached to your home. The sound will get old very quickly. Attached to a remote building would be OK." Actually, the camera is very quiet when panning or moving from one preset to another. I suspect that Mike P. was at his computer desk and listening to a playback or doing live control, and not outside near the camera to listen to what it sounds like in operation. The mic is in the camera and so is the motor and the mechanisms which move the lens assembly from position to position. So when panning the mic is right there to pick up the noise and it will sound loud when playing back a video, for example. Try rubbibg two fingers (thumb and index finger) together right at the opening of your ear (the "camera mic"")-- you will hear the rubbing, then move your hand a few inches away and you won't be able to sense any sound--that's the difference between being at you computer listening to the camera, live, and being outside several feet away from the camera and listening to what it sounds like. Use a phone app like IPCam Viewer and go outside near the camera and do some panning and you'll see how quiet it is. As of this writing, the Amazon product page still has the large-type top-of-the-page description that claims that the camera has a 96X zoom ratio. it does not--the zoom ratio is 48X. Further down the product page it mentions the correct zoom ratio of 48X. But the top-of-the-page description-damage had already been done. "Robin" at Sumbatech support was notified of the discrepencies and, as of this writing, apparently has failed to notify the responsible parties that corrections should be made. In addition, the top-of-page description claims "Two-Way Audio". That claim is misleading. On the product page for Sumba's P636" a claim of "Two-Way Audio" is also made, but in the case of the P636 there actually is out-of-the-box Two-Way Audio. In the case of the P848 the buyer must purchase their own mic and speakers in order to have Two-Way Audio. Further down the product page a "Two-Way Audio Pigtail" is mentioned--this pigtail allows for the connection of user-purchased mic and speaker to the camera. However it isn't made clear if there is built-in Two-Way Audio which would be disabled if the pigtail is utilized. There is no out-of-thebox 2-way audio. The camera that was sent to me didn't have protective plastic over the lens--something that is a standard practice with other cameras I have purchased. There was a piece of protective plastic that is supposed to cover the IR LED arrays. But, this piece of plastic was crumpled, loose in the shipping box. There is no way that the protective plastic could have been dislodged during shipping--it needs to be peeled off. The fact that there was no protective plastic on the lens, and the protective plastic for the IR LED array was loose in the box leads me to believe that the camera was not new/unused. In addition, there were scratches around the circumference of the lens. The product box did have an unbroken seal at the top of the box. However, the bottom of the box had no seal. The box can be easily opened from the bottom without displaying signs that it had ever been opened and then closed. Deceptive and misleading descriptions are not conducive to customer trust.
