The right balance between getting clean without over-drying the skin
I get eczema. It's worse in the winter, and worse if I shower twice a day. My dermatologist recommended Vanicream soap. That works well in that it doesn't cause eczema no matter how much I shower. But, it doesn't feel like it cleans very well and it leaves behind a slippery residue. I tried many different soaps and this Grandpa's Pine Tar is the best. It actually gets your skin very clean---even after a day digging out tree stumps or an intense Jiu Jitsu class. But it doesn't cause eczema and doesn't leave a greasy residue. I actually think it makes eczema go away, but I can't prove that. Personally, I love the smell. It smells like a campfire to me. My wife doesn't mind it, but she thinks it smells a bit like asphalt. But it can't be that bad, because she uses it when she gets eczema! I usually use it below the neck, but it's fine to wash your face with. It won't dry out your face or give you acne. And, it is actually great on beards. I've washed my hair with it, but it seems to build up some residue over time, so I don't recommend using it as a daily shampoo. Stick to below the forehead. Overall a great soap. Gets you nice and clean; no grease; no rashes or dry skin.

Initially skeptical but I'm sold.
I've been trying to find a body wash (and shampoo) for a long time that works for me. I would constantly try new products like body gels with manly fragrances but found them to be a bit expensive for what you get and often times left my skin dry. I occasionally get a dry scalp in the winter months and resort to expensive dandruff shampoo that come in very tiny bottles. Then one day I found Grandpa's Pine Tar Soap. After reading the description it seemed too good to be true. A soap that washes body and hair without all those chemicals found in other products? Sounds good to me! So I bought some. The soap definitely has a smokey smell to it that some of my friends find strange and unappealing but I actually like. The smell doesn't linger long either so even if you don't like the smell it shouldn't be a deal breaker. It lathers white like the box says and doesn't leave a sticky feeling on my skin after I rinse the lather off like other soap bars I've tried. After many showers with this product I wholeheartedly recommend it! Leaves my hair feeling thicker and healthier, skin clean and not sticky or dry and I think it's quite a bargain for what you get out of it! The only thing I would not advise is to use this as a shaving soap. The box says it's good for shaving but I don't think it makes a thick enough lather for a traditional wet-shave lather. I would use it to wash my face prior to really soften the whiskers but not as my primary shave lather. Wonderful product! Will definitely continue to purchase

Total relief for dry, itchy skin
Lots of allergies and dry, fair skin — not a wonderful combination to begin with. I’ve had dry skin all my life. But now pushing beyond 60 and with radiation treatments back a few years, it’s no surprise that during high allergy season, itchy, flakey skin and scalp are a constant for weeks in a row. I’ve tried a lot of soaps and this is formula, so far, has worked the best. (It also seems to actually clean the skin, LOL, unlike some pricey brands I’ve tried.) I’m happy I tried this product and wish I’d listened to my friend’s advice about it long ago. But its cost kept me from trying it until now. I was also aware that it would probably have a strong scent. Yes, it is pungently pine, but, here’s another laugh — the strong scent sort of helps you wake up and it doesn’t seem to set off an allergic response, like most strong odors. One feature I am very happy about is that it seems to leave a very slight, soft, sleek coating of oil or some other moisturizer on the skin, after it is rinsed off. It says it can be used to wash the hair. I’m trying that next. One feature I’m happy with: unlike lanolin-based soaps, this product is much easier to rinse off. I found this to be a big problem when lanolin soaps are used as shampoo. Apparently the lanolin slickly coats each hair shaft and the result for me, is full-blown, zombie hair. Lanolin soaps also seem to leave a hard-to-clean residue in the bottom of tub or shower. I’m hoping this product is easier to rinse out the hair and leaves a bit of moisturizing, subtle sheen, as it does to the skin.

Pregnancy was going well until I developed PUPPs at 27 weeks. I was in pain and the belly rash was very, very, very itchy. I felt bad scratching, but sometimes, could not help doing so. It interrupted my sleep, no clothing was good enough, it bothered me during the day at work. I started using Grandpa's Pine Tar Soap the week after (28 weeks). Smells like campfire, but I didn't mind as long as it helped with the belly rash. I used the soap and lathered for 3 minutes twice a day (morning and night). The rash has been minimized by 30 weeks. I am now at 31 weeks, and the rash is almost gone. I am very thankful for this soap! It's made PUPPs more tolerable. :)

Best soap for alleviating chronic itchy skin conditions, pricy but well worth it. It hasn't cured my skin condition but has made it a lot more bearable, this soap is a godsend.

The soap came well packed. I have used it several times now and i have noticed my hair. beard and skin feels a lot softer. The smell was a little aggressive once out of the box but toned down once wet and used a couple of time. I will purchase again.

Ottimo prodotto. Per me che soffro di psoriasi lo trovo delicato e adatto alla mia pelle sensibile. L'odore di cenere sparisce dopo un po', quindi non rappresenta un problema e con il passare del tempo ci si abitua

Soap helped clear my PUPPS rash. Definitely recommend for anyone suffering from this pregnancy rash. After the first use i felt it aggravated the rash but then i gave it another try and started to see an improvement after using 2 or 3 times. After about a week of use rash was reduced by 70%. Will continue using this until the end of my pregnancy. Smell is not bad at all and once you wash it off the smell doesnt stay
