I'm very happy with this chess set! Very nice quality: all the pieces I received match the photos on Amazon and there were no misfits or flaws that needed replacement. I like the weighting of the pieces too. I bought the Rosewood Gilded set and I really like the dark redwood color of the Rosewood. My board has 1 5/8" size squares and these pieces fit very nicely.

No complaints here. Pieces look great, the weight is good. Bought the pieces for a board with 2" squares. I used to use "Bobby Fischer's Ultimate Pieces" which were plastic on the wooden board, however, the plastic pieces made the board feel crowded... now with these new pieces, the warriors has time to breathe.

These are gorgeous pieces, nicely weighted, and they look exactly like the pieces you see at the professional tournaments played on by Magnus, Fabiano, Ian, and the like. One of the queens in the set (it comes with 4 queens) was listing due to a misplaced weight and the seller responded immediately and shipped me a new queen which was perfect. Very much appreciate the excellent customer service from The House of Staunton. Here's to the great game of chess!

Nice set, but one piece was broken.

I got this to replace some pieces that were too small for a 1 3/4" square board. The quality of this Golden Rosewood set is great and the detail is very accurate an consistent across all pieces. I am including photos to show how they fit on the 1 3/4" size squares. Highly recommended.

This is a nice chess set. It looks great on my coffee table and pieces are weighted nicely. The only issue is one of the white rooks has a crooked top (see picture)! So, it's kind of a let-down, and for this price range you may want to look at some other sets. To be fair, I couldn't find any method of communication with the House of Staunton Amazon store, so hopefully this review will be noticed and responded to with some form of resolution.

Nicely weighted chess set with good proportions. However, one of the white Bishops never had the carve of the miter completed and one of the white Pawns arrived cracked. Have contacted House of Staunton directly with photos hoping for resolution without having to send the entire set back. Their customer service has been helpful so far. If the pieces get replaced correctly, my rating would go to 4+!Update: customer service responded quickly, new pieces have arrived in good order and perfect condition, I now rate the chess set as 5 stars!

Looks great on the chessboard I made in high school they even included two extra queens! The dark pieces especially are rich looking, almost purple.
