OmegonUniverse2go Planetarium, Augmented Reality (AR) Astronomy Gadget with a Smartphone App

As an avid amateur astronomer I purchased this item advertised in the popular astronomy magazine – Sky and Telescope. I purchased it for convenience on Amazon. I was not able to put it to good use immediately. When I finally tried to use it I realized my iPhone eat S. Was Way too large to fit into the compartment that's necessary for this viewer to work. I contacted the company and they told me they could do nothing because it was sold through Amazon. And they had agreed to have Amazon handle all the customer problems. Well the return window had closed so Amazon is a closed-door in the company as a closed-door. So I'm writing this review to point out to potential buyers that the advertising at least at the time I bought this was incomplete and inaccurate. More significant to me is the company's desire to foist off this problem and not address it with a level of customer service most of us expect in this day and age. As I looked at that this device in trying to use it I found that it's Practicallyidentical to the current app I have on my phone -Star Walk. Universe2go is just a holder for iPhone with a similar app. Most folks would be better off simply purchasing the Star Walk app.I'll be passing this review on to the editors of sky and telescope magazine also. I really wanted this to work as advertised! A great idea, but just not ready for prime time. As an amateur astronomer I have some familiarity with the basics of night sky viewing, but I could not get this to work consistently with my iPhone 6s. Much of the problem is likely due to the requirement for accurate cell phone electronics re position and acceleration, which apparently exceeds my phone's capabilities. Additionally, the view through the Universe2go is not as bright as a naked eye view: the stars are significantly less bright, which makes it harder to identify constellations, and when the constellation lines are added by the software it is almost impossible to see the actual sky (using the one eye screen option - in the iPhone settings menu - improves this a bit since you can close the eye that sees the software to focus on the (diminished) natural view. So I am regretfully returning it.

It's a good concept and a hard one to execute well. Needs more development as far as making it user friendly and getting the projected image to align with the actual star positions.

This is a must have for teachers, parents, or anybody generally interested in astronomy. The viewer is well made and easily mounted an iPhone 6s. Calibrating and setting up the app after the initial download was easy. Navigating within the app and using the complete setup was great. The information provided about constellations and planets was very educational and the augmented reality made it fun. Controlling the app while in the viewer was also easy and intuitive. All around this is a great product.

Fantastic way to look and learn about the sky in real time! This is not virtual reality but the REAL sky being explained. I've always wanted to learn about what I was seeing in the sky and what is great here is that one sees the stars and a digital overlay that explains all about each star in the viewer. Great, unique product!

If you have a kid who is interested in learning about the stars, then this is a great product. Works best with gyros in newer iPhones, and a little difficult to calibrate. But once it is running, it’s really great. Give yourself 30 minutes to perform calibration and setup.

Very cool gadget once you get it calibrated. If you like the night sky and looking up at the stars I would highly recommend this product. Full of great and interesting information about the planets, stars, galaxies, constellations and more. I cant put it down! Love the AR. I bought a second unit for a friend of mine. If you're on the fence, take the leap, you'll love it!

Seit bald einem Jahr besitze ich die Universe2go Brille und bin davon immer noch begeistert.Die Verarbeitung der Brille ist sehr gut, zwar besteht sie komplett aus Plastik, ist aber alles trotzdem sehr stabil.Das Smartphone über welches die Universe2go APP läuft wird oben hinein gelegt und dann der Deckel geschlossen, so kann dem Smartphone absolut nichts passieren.Über zwei konkave Spiegel und eine Plastikscheibe wird das Bild des Smartphones für den Betrachter in den Raum projiziert.Man hat verschiedene Auswahlmöglichkeiten was die Art der Sternbeobachtung angeht, man wählt zwischen Sternbildern, einem Entdeckermodus, 3D, Deep Sky Objekten, oder stellt sich seine eigene beliebteste Mischung aller Einstellungen im Expertenmodus zusammen.In jedem Modus wird man durch einen Erzähler mit Informationen zu beinahe allem was man beobachtet versorgt, so bekommt man schnell ein ziemlich genaues Bild, sowie Orientierung am Nachthimmel, was dieses Gadget besonders für Astronomie-Neulinge interessant machen sollte.Die Universe2go APP bekommt regelmäßige Updates und wächst kontinuierlich, was mir persönlich sehr gefällt, weil man immer mit verfolgen kann wie sich diese APP weiterentwickelt.Hier scheinen sich die Entwickler besonders Mühe zu geben, da bis jetzt jedes Update das Erlebnis mit der Brille verbessert hat.Die Brille lässt sich allerdings nur nutzen wenn es wirklich sehr dunkel ist und leider ist die Deckungsgleichheit der Sterne der Brille und der des Firmaments nicht so hoch wie angepriesen.Dennoch verdient sie volle 5 Sterne, da ich sehr oft mit dieser Brille draußen unter freiem Himmel stand, oder Zuhause im Dunkeln meine vier Wände angestarrt habe und dabei hätte ich dieses Wunderwerk für astronomie Anfänger nicht missen wollen.Ich selbst bin Brillenträger und die Universe2go Brille funktioniert auch einwandfrei mit Brille auf der Nase, auch wenn es mit Kontaktlinsen meiner Meinung nach viel angenehmer ist.Jeder der sich für Astronomie interessiert aber keine Zeit, zu dämlich oder zu geizig für ein Teleskop ist, sollte sich diese Sternenbrille zulegen da sie alle Voraussetzungen zum erkunden unserer stellaren Nachbarschaft oder auch viel weiter entfernten Objekten erfüllt und dazu eine Menge Infos liefert, welche erfahrenen Hobbyastronomen bestimmt bereits bekannt sind, aber einen Anfänger für viele Stunden fesseln wird.Tipp: Am besten auf der Herstellerwebsite erstmal schauen ob das eigene Smartphone mit der App kompatibel ist.

Une fois qu'on a comprit comment le paramétrer et comment ça fonctionne, ce truc m'a bluffé !Attention : il faut avoir un téléphone qui a gyroscope. Ce n'est pas le cas de tous.Le principe est simple : c'est une simple boîte avec des miroirs dedans. On place son Iphone sur le dessus avec des cales en mousse dure prévue à cet effet.Pour les porteurs de lunettes, comme moi, ça ne pose aucun problème.Pour regarder le ciel, il faut enlever le cache qu'il y a devant et, à mon avis, régler la luminosité de l'appareil (les étoiles, les lignes des constellations...) au minimum. À partir de là, on regarde le ciel, et les étoiles et les constellations de l'appareil viennent se superposer devant le ciel réel. On règle les différents paramétrages avec des mouvements de tête à droite et à gauche et de haut en bas : c'est un coup à prendre.Tout est très bien expliqué sur le site de l'application Universe2go que l'on peut télécharger gratuitement. Néanmoins, cette application fonctionne en totalité que lorsqu'on l'a débloquée avec le code livré avec l'appareil (il est écrit sur la boîte d'emballage).Quelquefois, il y a un décalage entre les étoiles et les constellations de l'appareil et le ciel réel. Il faut juste placer le rond vert sur l'étoile du ciel réel et attendre 2 secondes que l'application se déplace pour venir se positionner correctement. Là aussi, c'est un petit coup à prendre.En résumé, comme tout outil, il faut apprendre à s'en servir. Mais une fois qu'on maîtrise bien appareil ça vaut vraiment le coup ! Je conseille tout de même d'apprendre d'abord à repérer une dizaine d'étoiles dans le ciel réel ( Sirius, Procyon, Regulus, la constellation d'Orion bien entendu, l'Étoile polaire, ça va de soi, Castor, Pollux, Antarès, Aldébaran, Cappella... l'astérisme Véga, Dened, Altaïr, bien sûr...) comme ça, on est beaucoup plus à l'aise pour naviguer dans le ciel avec l'appareil.

Tolle Umsetzung. Es macht wirklich Spaß, sich Abends den Sternenhimmel erläutern zu lassen. Der Kommentator hat eine angenehme Stimme und die Kommentare sind sehr interessant. Auch meine Tochter ist hellauf begeistert. Wirklich gutes Produkt.

Dans le colis manquent le code d'activation et la mousse pour câler le smartphone. Cadeau de Nöel mais Astro-shop et Amazon jouent au yoyo et personne ne me dépanne.Pas de dragonne ni de sac de protection non plus, ils ont été supprimés pour faire baisser le prix, dommage que l'info n'ait pas été donnée avant...Quant au smartphone, bon courage pour avoir une liste exhaustive des compatibilités ! Je me suis fiée aux indications fournies (Androit 4.4 + tous les capteurs nécessaires) mais impossible de télécharger la version française, et la version espagnole m'indique une erreur au démarrage.Mon fils a un produit qui fait rêver entre les mains, mais le sav est consternant et du coup je galère pour le mettre en route...

The product feels cheap and doesn't fit all kinds of smartphones. I thought it was going to be universal but it isn't, phones like Xiaomi mi 9 and Samsung S10 don't even fit. The app isn't even that correct. Overall it's a nice present for kids, as for adults it feels a bit too overrated.
