Epic Air ANC True Wireless Earbuds

I have WAY too many Bluetooth headphones. I have a pair of Jabra Elite Sports that I have never used, and when I took them out, the left one doesnt’ work. Turns out, it’s a super common thing and there’s nothing I can do b/c I’m way past the warranty period. So I was looking for sweat proof headphones for running and cycling with GOOD sound quality that weren’t $200 AND have hear through so I can hear traffic. Enter the JLAB EPIC AIR ANC. The hear through works GREAT. I can hear traffic and other people just fine. The sound quality is soooo good! You can even customize your own EQ. The sound rivals my Bose sport headphones for half the price (which I why I don’t work out with the Bose… if they’re not REALLY sweat proof I don’t want to be replacing ANOTHER $200 pair if headphones). They’d be a GREAT deal at their $100 price but they always seem to be on sale. I’m probably going to buy a back up pair next time I see them on a great deal price b/c my luck is when I need to replace them, they’re out of production.

I bought these earphones in November of 2022. As of April 2023 I'm writing my review as a warning. While i try to maintain that my experience may not be the normal experience I will point out that this is effectively my 3rd set of these and all 3 have been trash. So a little history first. When the cellphone companies began removing traditional headphone jacks I was forced to go wireless if i wanted to have a decent phone. Walking through my local walmart one of my friends pointed out these headphones (or similar by the same company) and said his are great, so I bought a pair. My goal was to find headphones that provide a long play time on a single charge. I work 10 hours a day in a loud wood shop with a really big saw 2 feet from my head all day, so a minimum of 10 or 11 hours on a single play is what i was looking for. So here is my experience. The set I bought from Walmart lasted a few months but on day 1 had a habit of randomly disconnecting. To reconnect I had to put them back inside the charge case. Not really convenient if I'm on the other side of the shop and busy working on something. They eventually stopped working. I chalked it up to one bad set and moved on. I went with a different brand that provided better sound but less setup options and a lot of the time the right side wouldn't charge. I assumed that's because of their design and how they can fit inside the case without actually connecting. So I decided to get another pair of these JLab headphones. I went with these specifically for play time on a single charge, the stem makes them fit one way in the case, and the case actually has individual lights to say if the bud is seated right. My second set arrived in the mail and i spent 3 hours trying to get the headphones to connect to the app and my phone. Eventually i figured they are broken and requested a replacement set and returned those. Then we get to the 3rd set. This is the replacement set. After another unreasonably difficult time trying to connect I found that the instructions left out a key detail for syncing them. I found out through a rigorous search on YouTube. Finally they connected. SUCCESS!!! I was a happy camper. Indication lights to say they were charging right, long play time, easy to charge, and lots of custom options in the app. It was great... for about 2 months. It was about that point that the battery life started to dwindle. It went from making almost a 10 hour day to making about 4 hours. I thought maybe it somehow got dirt on the contacts so I cleaned them up both on the buds and the case. That didn't help. They have remained at this less than decent state since then. Let me clarify, it is only the right bud doing this, and the app says it is fully charged when i open them at the start of each day yet by time i go for lunch break the right bud dies after charging for a full night. In conclusion it is my judgment that these headphones are not of reasonable quality for the price and frustration that they bring. 3 out of 3 pairs have been failures and I'm forced to believe that my friends set is like a unicorn as all of my experience has led to me writing a bad review as a warning for anyone willing to read it. In a time when more and more companies are removing headphone jacks it is becoming more and more important that wireless headphone companies design a high quality product that works as intended, and I once again will be searching for a new set that works as advertised.

JLab makes some of the best "more cost efficient" well made + super comfortable and long lasting earbuds/headphones. Whenever I pick a new pair without spending a fortune its either JLab or JBL. I've owned these for 2 months and love them. I read a lot about how these headphones are quite and the volume on them is weak compared to other headsets, and they aren't wrong, but let me tell you why the low volume is a design feature and not a flaw in the headset. I work in a weld shop and wearing headsets is not allowed. Foam ear plugs only. If a supervisor or shift lead approach and say a persons name and the person does not respond, they are asked to remove their helmet and show their ears, if the person is wearing earbuds or a headset they will receive a safety write up. These are perfect in a work setting as they muffle as much sounds as foam earbuds, the volume can also play super low, so i can listen to music and still hear if someone is approaching by or calling me from a short distance. I can also hold a conversation with someone without having to turn down to mute. The app is garbage, only thing useful is turning off the touch and heat sensors. these sensors are super touchy, i found these to be more efficient with them turned off. also, the app auto sets both ANC and Aware Mode, always set these to off, these should be on one or the other but not at the sametime. why have them set at the sametime? if you cant hear turn down the music or turn off ANC, if outside noise is too loud turn off aware mode, having both on i'm sure this leads to stressing out the processors in the headset leading to failed sound quality, it also drains the battery down to a couple hours instead of 12. I cant use be aware mode in the weld shop because the sharp banging of metal stresses out the microphone, The ANC works well, I don't use it though because I want to hear my outside noises. Be aware is excellent if a person is on a trail or walking around at night, its pretty wicked, i can hear the smallest sounds when it is activated, its akin to wearing night vision at night. ANC works well on an airplane, it took out all sounds, all i could hear was what was playing from my phone. Battery life is great, as long as the headset is NOT CONNECTED TO THE APP, sensors off (heat/touch - headphones can still be turned off and on by pressing for 3 seconds), both ANC and be aware is turned off, and the headset is being played from 2 or 3 clicks away from mute. I can get a consistent 10 hours from the headset, I do play it loud from time to time. I got 14 hours from it one time and I am wondering how that happened, only thing I could think of I was not playing music for a couple hours. the battery case will last 4 - 5 charging sessions. all in all, these are perfect for work or a work environment.

Connects to bluetooth for seconds, states fully charged. Then states no charge. No battery life constantly flat. Return item and going to buy another brand. waste of time
