Perhaps spend a little more, and get a package of several olives and barbs. They’re small and easy to lose.

I wish I could have bought this from one of the online bike shops, but with the cost of shipping and the slower shipping it was just a better plan to buy them through Amazon. Next time I'll plan ahead and add them to a bigger order from jenson or universal. These are for XT, SLX, Zee, Saint (which all use the same hardware) and probably all the other pre-2025 XTR Shimano brakes.

Don't Put This Olive in Your Salad
I purchased the Shimano SM-BH90 Olive and Connecting insert because I upgraded to Shimano XT disc brakes and after first installation I realized the brake line needed to be shortened. Therefore the old olive and insert had to be discarded as they are not reusable. This conversion worked well.

Quality is fine
It works fine, I had looked at several options and when I chose this one I thought I was getting a packet with a few in it. For the price there are better deals. You get one with this. No issues receiving or with the product.

Works great for shimano brakes
It is very similar to the one I had to cut off to shorten my brake cable. It doesn’t leak or anything. Works as it is supposed to. I’ve ordered several of these. That should tell you something.

They were the authentic replacements for what I needed to do with altering the length of a set of hydraulic brake cables. And by altering I mean shortening. Easy to fit, snug connection, no leaks so far. Happy.
