REAL SLIPPERY ELM
This is the real thing and not some extract. I've been using NOW products for years and I recently tried a different brand of the slippery elm and it wasn't even slippery elm but I got this one and it is the real deal. Works so well for my gut issues and has an ok taste and is easy to mix and even the color is the right color. I found out about slippery elm from Dr. Barbara O'Neill and it works wonders. There's no smell at all. It helps my stomach and even throat.

They changed the product
I purchased this same product last year and it seems as if the consistency has changed. Last time when mixing it with water it would form a thicker, paste-like consistency. This bottle I purchased last month does not thicken. It is more like a gritty tea, which defeats the purpose of drinking this to help coat the stomach/esophagus lining. It seems like they changed something with this product. I will not be purchasing this again. I have purchased several supplements from the NOW brand and have been pleased. Now I am very leery about buying this brand again.

Amazing for women READ!
This is a powder form and the taste is nutty and perfect for tea it has a fall kinda vibe :) Lets talk about what it does... it's called SLIPPERY elm for a reason it makes you more slippery in all the right places. *Not for women who are pregnant or trying to get pregnant as it can cause miscarriage. This WORKS and pretty fast with in 24 hours for me. I only use it as needed and I don't think it's to be used continuously, so do your research. I mix it with a hand held frother. It is kinda clumpy a fork works too. This is also great for joint pain ... any lube in the body :)

Our Cat's Back to Normal
Made an obvious improvement in our cat, which we suspected had progressing kidney failure due to behavioral changes (ex: became antisocial; hissing when I moved her) and a deceased sibling that succumbed to multiple issues, including advanced kidney failure (as revealed by an Xray). Our cat was back to her old self within two weeks of regular dosing with Slippery Elm, which my cursory research indicated might impede progression of feline kidney disease, and possibly even reverse it.At first, I wet a bit of powder, creating a thick slime the cat would lick from my finger or her front paw. But she soon snubbed any suggestion of Slippery Elm, despite the fact that she felt better! We could tell it was benefitting her because her behavior had started reverting back to normal. Then I made a slippery elm syrup to administer via dropper into the cat's cheek -- NOT down its throat, which can endanger cats. [Cooked 1 1/2 tsp Slippery Elm powder in 1C water plus 1/2 tsp cranberry extract powder in a stainless steel pot, stirring constantly through a 3-minute boil (then cool and keep refrigerated, and renew the batch every 5-7 days).] The cat hated taking the syrup with a dropper. Even though I rewarded with treats after each dose, the cat resisted more and more. It wasn't worth stressing the cat to administer by dropper, since stress adversely affects the renal system. Finally found a winner: just about 1/2 tsp of the homemade syrup mixed into a TBSP of Beechnut Turkey or Chicken 1st food, microwave the mixture for 6 seconds to amplify the meat scent, and the cat snarfs it down without a hitch.
