WEN2305 Rotary Tool Kit with Flex Shaft

I bought this mainly for the flexible shaft that can be used for precision work. I already have a Dremel but it is very old and not variable speed, just on or off. This rotary tool is variable speed and the kit comes with lots of accessories. The storage box keeps everything organized so you can find what you need quickly. I really like the different size collets that can be used for various drill bits. The first project I used this rotary tool on was to drill small holes into stained wooden knobs so they could be attached to 1" diameter wafer cutters. The flexible shaft worked perfectly and I was able to accomplish the work with no misses or mistakes. Excellent price and I was able to bundle this purchase with an additional accessory kit.

So my dremel disappeared, I needed a replacement. Going through the depot site, and Amazon I came across ones tht were 100$ with the pen style attachment. I really don’t want to pay tht much. Then… This one.. 19$?? Delivered in a few hours?? I don’t need to put on pants?? Sign me UP!!! Showed up, little case solid build, worked perfectly. I’m very happy with this buy. Yes it’s not a name brand, if you use it everyday, maybe a more known product would be safer, but for me?? This is perfect. Also extremely economical!!

While trying to tightening down the collet/chuck on the end of the flexible shaft, the inner metal shaft itself sheared loose of the housing of the handle, ripping apart parts of the handle, and is no longer useable. That’s fine, since I didn’t plan on using the flexible shaft much, but it still knocks a star off of the review in my opinion—it broke and is not useable. Otherwise, it’s pretty perfectly comparable to a dremel in size, noise, power and power adjustment, and utility. 9.5/10

I used to use a Dremel tool all the time when I was a kid 25-30 years ago And they always cost a fortune back then. I really liked the fact that this came with the flex shaft attachment, and the variety of accessories that came with the tool for the price. I very much like that you’re able to adjust the speed of the motor. I cannot speak to its durability yet as I’ve only used it on a couple of projects, but it has worked very well. The flex shaft makes it very versatile for multiple different jobs. I personally got it for cleaning metal in a hard to reach spot under the hood of my car. It’s accorded Dremel so you don’t have to worry about the battery going dead. The only thing I noticed was the motor labored a little bit if you bent the flex shaft too far. Seems durable enough, and I especially liked the fact that it came with the part number and instructions for replacing the brushes in the motor.

Oddly enough, the Wen brand keyless chuck 2305-KC does NOT fit this tool (as other reviews have stated).HOWEVER, the Dremel brand 4486 keyless chuck DOES fit this tool perfectly.Once this keyless bit is installed, you can fit just about any size rotary tool bit without issue (since the chuck changes size like a drill chuck depending on how much you tighten it down).An annoying thing about rotary tools is the different attachments/bits often aren’t compatible with the different chuck sizes on the rotary tools (there seems to be 2 main sizes, but not much info about which size is which) so I’ve wound up with a drawer full of bits that often don’t fit into my rotary tool. But with this adjustable chuck, that’s no longer an issue for me!Other than the chuck needing to be upgraded, this rotary tool has worked very well for me. A little on the weak side, but good for more delicate work (I’ll use my corded one for tougher jobs).So I recommend this tool, but DEFINITELY consider getting the Dremel 4486 chuck for it.

Fantastic rotary tool. I ordered this after my Dremel died on me and the cost of a comparable replacement was ridiculous. I had heard of WEN in the past when I was looking to buy a new drill press and really only ever heard good things, so I decided to give them a shot. Once in a while I get it right and this was one of those times. This tool is comfortable in the hand, has plenty of adjustable power, fantastic battery life and great bonus features. The added light at the end of the tool is extremely helpful and not overbearing. The unit came with a charge on it and I kept wondering when it was going to stop but it seemed to run for days. Charging was quick and I was buck up and running. The accessory kit provided ample enough attachments to get you going on just about any type of small project. This was my first WEN product but definitely not my last.
