GLD1850 Fireplace Log Set, Vent-Free, Dual Fuel, 18 inch

Easy to install, but we did already have a natural gas line. Keeps the living area warm and toasty and keeps the central heat from coming on. (Probably not a money saving feature but I like to think so.) The thermostat works very well. So far so good. I would recommend these, I am very pleased.

Beautiful gas log set. It's a huge upgrade from our previous set that was broken and clogged up. My complaints are the odor it puts off and the assembly. Ive had this since last winter and used it several times and every time it fills the house with an obnoxious smell. I've tried burning it to try to get the new off of it but it's still persistent. After installing it and using it the first time I could smell gas. I retightened all of the connection and tried again. Still could smell it. I ended up having a service man from the gas company come out and have a look at it. It turns out that 2 of the factory connections were loose! Thankfully it was an easy fix but I never would have found it if we hadn't used his "sniffer" to pin point it. I contacted the company and they refunded some of my payment for the inconvenience. No problems since! Be sure to tighten everything though to avoid possible leaks!

Do not buy this product if you want a continuous fire that lasts longer than 20 minutes. The thermostat turns the unit off when it gets hot (after less than half an hour). It then will stay off till the unit cools off, which takes about 20 minutes.No wonder it is so inexpensive. No wonder they won't allow you to return it. This is a badly designed item that they are trying to unload by failing to mention that it does not work the way most customers would want it to.

I choose this log set because after looking at the realistic appearance and quality of the logs, it was clear that they were the best value for the money, If this was the only reason for my rating, the log set would have gotten a five star. The set was easy to assemble in a reasonable amount of time. After the assembly and checking for gas leaks,( I use NG ), the pilot was easy to light and the transition to full burner mode was uneventful. After about fifteen minutes, the flame went out, and I was unable to restart..After several minutes, I was able to get the flame restarted. Upon having this same thing happen several times, I contacted the gas company to determine if this problem was theirs or maybe I had a faulty set of logs. The gas company tech determined that the gas flow and pressure was as should be, and that the logs were performing as they should! The problem was mine for purchasing a product that was not clearly explained to begin with. I thought that these logs would stay lit and the amount of heat and the size of the flame would be determined be the numbered dial, not so! The gas co tech explained that this set of logs was controlled by a thermostat and that the control dial was to be used to select the temp (size of flame) so if I wanted a small flame more or less for looks, the flame would reach the lower temp indicated by the numbers on the dial and then go out, but would come back on when the thermostat detected the temp in the fireplace was lower than the selected temp. No fault of the product. I suppose this is good if you only want to have your log flame on only part of the time and if you are concerned about the temp in the fire place! I feel that I'm capable of determining the temp and the duration of the flame on my own. I now have a fireplace log set that does what it's supposed to do, but not what I thought it would do. I'm sure that if I returned the product, My money would be refunded, however the gas co service call ($75) will not be refunded, so I will live with it. My thing is that all this SHOULD have been explained by the manufacturer/seller on the front end, it would save a LOT of people like myself, $$$$ , time and trouble in the long run.

We love our fire logs. They are more than we could have imagined. Our house does not have gas so we thought we could not use these. But a plumber was able to run a pipe from a propane tank outdoors thru the wall into our fireplace. It is a learning curve to light it but works very well once lit. We love it and it warms our whole room so well. Plus the price was more than half of what we could buy one from a retail store. Highly recommended.

My firebox is 20.5" across at the back, 29" at the front and 14" deep. This fireplace log set fit easily with a few inches to spare. No problem with lighting the pilot light and the thermostat works good at turning the gas on and off after you get the dial on the number you are comfortable with.

I had to return it. The specs did not say that the depth of the unitwas 22 inches. The depth on my existing fireplace is 18.The rating is after opening the box and looking at the contents.Indecently I have not been credited to my card as of today.

I love my gas log. I have been wanting one for so long and to finally find one that was reasonably priced was fantastic. It looks good, functions well and keeps my home warm and cozy. I love coming home and sitting by the fire.
