This cute little kit helped me win first place in the pinewood derby races!

I bought two of these to build with my nephew I haven built it yet but it is a very close copy of BSA pinewood derby kit, however it should be noted the wheels seem a little light and they might not meet specs for rules compliance for all regions so be sure to check specific rules in your area. Very good price for this kit.

If your child is a "serious" racer, this may not be the kit for you. We've bought a couple of these over the last two years, but just haven't been able to persuade it to run faster than the middle of the pack. Maybe it's us, maybe it's the wheels, maybe it's the weights. My child is more concerned about "Best in Show" than winning, and has been happy with this kit. If you are looking for a good-sized block of wood that children can have fun with creating whatever their vision is, this block is big enough to do the trick...and maybe too big, if there isn't enough wood removed when shaping the car. If this happens, better have the drill ready on race day.

Used this kit for my 6 year old son who REALLY wanted to make his own car. it sanded very easily but was nice and sturdy. will very likely order more in the future.

It did the job. It has lower quality wheels than typical. The wood split a little while I was inserting a wheel. And the weight of the block and wheels was already over the 5 oz limit to begin with. My design involved minimal modification, so I had to drill a bunch of holes on the bottom to get it down to weight. Other than that, it worked to roll down the track without any problems. For the price, it was fine. But the same kit was less expensive at a hobby store.

It game with 2 options for the axels even though I prefer nails it's nice that you get both. Also has caps for the single rod axels and 4 wheels. Good purchase if you are just starting, it comes with rules and guudelines for cars even though they may very by state/province.

I won third with little effort, wheels were a little different, but still close. I saw wheels come off with the guys who had the nail axles, So I really like the full axle, but it comes with both, just incase you have to use the nails in your pack. check the rules on wheels and axles before you buy, Good luck!
